D. FERRER/M. Granollers
6‑1, 6‑3

THE MODERATOR:  Questions in English, please.

Q.  I have a question about your relationship, if you had any, with Dr. Luis Garcia del Moral.  Have you ever met him?  How did you work with him?  Do you still work with him?
DAVID FERRER:  I don't have relation.  I don't have relation about this guy.  I never seen.  I don't know who is.  I know he working in Valencia with some players, but I never talk with him.

Q.  On the same matter, is it annoying to you, frustrating for you, to have those questions about Dr. Luis Garcia del Moral given what we know about Lance Armstrong and everything?  What do you feel about the way tennis is related to the question?
DAVID FERRER:  I think it's not relation about tennis.  I think this guy, he works about cycling.
But I don't know because I don't know him, so I can't to say something about this guy.

Q.  Just on the same subject, you said you know he has worked with some players.  Is that with some other tennis players?
DAVID FERRER:  I don't know.  I don't know him.  I never talk with him.  I don't know him.  He goes there, I don't know who is because I never work with this doctor.

Q.  But do the Spanish players talk about the subject?
DAVID FERRER:  No, no.  In tennis, I don't think so.  But no.
He's the doctor of Armstrong, no?

Q.  We have spoken to lots of players about the subject of drugs in tennis.  What do you think about it?  Do you think there are some tennis players who may take drugs or is it a big problem for tennis?
DAVID FERRER:  No, I don't think so.  I think that tennis a very, very sport clean.  I play tennis when I was young.  I know the other players, and I think the tennis is one of the sport about is very clean.
I can't talk about other sports because I don't know.  But in tennis, sure I'm not.

Q.  With regard to your form, the way you're playing, you've had a long season and played a lot matches, but this is still an important time of year for you with London coming up.  How do you feel about your whole year and how do you feel about next week?
DAVID FERRER:  Well, I feel good.  I am playing with very confidence.  I won one tournament last week.  Of course I am a little bit tired because it's the end of the year.
But now I want to focus only in this tournament; I will be focused with the next one in London.  I am in a good performance.  I will try to play very good the next two weeks.

Q.  Do you have your schedule set for your off‑season?  How are you going to rest and practice?  Where are you training in the winter?
DAVID FERRER:  After we finish?

Q.  Yes.
DAVID FERRER:  Well, I will practice in Valencia.  I practice always there with my coach and my team.  I will play some exhibitions before Australian Open.

Q.  Will you have time for a holiday?
DAVID FERRER:  Yeah, ten days this season we finally before than the other years.

Q.  Just on your schedule, David, my friends in New Zealand tell me that you're going to go back and play the Auckland event that you've won three times.  Can you just tell me about that and why you enjoy playing that tournament?
DAVID FERRER:  Where, in Brazil?

Q.  In Auckland.
DAVID FERRER:  Oh, in Auckland.  Yeah, I will go there.  I like a lot that tournament.  I won three times.  I enjoy to play there.  I like the city.  I like the people.  It's the second week of the season.
The last years it was my first week, no, so I am very happy to come back again.

Q.  Do you ever consider playing another event?  You're a regular in Auckland.  You come there most years.
DAVID FERRER:  Yes, but it's very difficult to win again Auckland.  I will try to do my best every week.

Q.  Completely nontennis question:  Who would you vote for for the Golden Ball, you know, the football?
DAVID FERRER:  For Lionel Messi.

Q.  Because?
DAVID FERRER:  He's the best of the world.  He's the best of the world for me, but that's my opinion.

Q.  It's no doubt for you?
DAVID FERRER:  Sorry?

Q.  There is no hesitation for you at all or no doubt for you at all?
DAVID FERRER:  No, no, no doubt it's possible.  No doubt.

Q.  And if you had to pick two other players?
DAVID FERRER:  Xavi and Andrés Iniesta.

Q.  You said this has been a good year.  Has this been, do you think, the best year of your career?
DAVID FERRER:  Yeah, of course, of course.  I won six tournaments this year.  I never did that one.  I am playing very, very consistent all the year, better than the last one, no?

Q.  And physically you play a lot of the matches.  Does it get more difficult or do you...
DAVID FERRER:  Well, it's difficult, but when I played in Asia I had time to rest a few weeks because I didn't play in Shanghai.  I had a virus, stomach virus, and it was good for to will play the next three weeks in good performance.
