JOHN PARAMOR: Simon Khan has been penalized one stroke and fined some the sum of 2,000 pounds for breach of the European Tour conditions of competition relating to pace of play.

He had bad times with his second shot on the ninth hole, of 67 seconds when allowed 55; and second shot at the 12th hole, of 59 seconds when allowed 44.

The penalty applies on the 12th hole. His eagle 3 became a birdie 4.

Q. And you told him after the round? Was he aware of it during the round?

JOHN PARAMOR: He was informed by the official, the timing official, on the 12th hole that he had a second bad time, but was unaware until he completed his round that he had incurred a penalty.

His group got back in position after completing the 14th hole.
