SPRINGFIELD, ILLINOIS
ASHLEY CUSHMAN: Thanks for joining us today. Great round out there. Bogey free. You're within one shot of the lead right now if Yani finishes at 13-under. Talk about the way you played today.
JI YOUNG OH: Today I was calm and everything -- I look what i made today, so I made a lot of birdie. I mean, I try just stay focus, and so I shot low round today.
ASHLEY CUSHMAN: Let's go over your scorecard. First birdie on the 4th hole.
JI YOUNG OH: No. 6, Par 5.
ASHLEY CUSHMAN: Did you have one on 4?
JI YOUNG OH: Oh, yes, uh-huh.
ASHLEY CUSHMAN: Tell me about that one first.
JI YOUNG OH: I hit the driver and it's 120 yards and six feet.
ASHLEY CUSHMAN: Your driver from 120 yards?
JI YOUNG OH: No no, second shot.
ASHLEY CUSHMAN: What club did you use on your second shot?
JI YOUNG OH: I shot wedge.
ASHLEY CUSHMAN: Wedge from 120 yards to how many feet?
JI YOUNG OH: Six feet.
ASHLEY CUSHMAN: Perfect. What was your approach shot on 6?
JI YOUNG OH: No. 6 is a Par 5, driver and 3-wood and 60 yards the third shot, and is it 12 feet?
ASHLEY CUSHMAN: What club on your third shot?
JI YOUNG OH: A 52, the wedge.
ASHLEY CUSHMAN: Perfect. Your birdie on 8.
JI YOUNG OH: I hit a 3-wood and 120 yards and I used a wedge.
ASHLEY CUSHMAN: How close?
JI YOUNG OH: Eight feet.
ASHLEY CUSHMAN: Birdie on 11.
JI YOUNG OH: I made No. 10, too.
ASHLEY CUSHMAN: Go ahead. Do No. 10 for me.
JI YOUNG OH: I hit driver and 150 yards and 7-iron to maybe 15 feet.
ASHLEY CUSHMAN: And No. 11.
JI YOUNG OH: I used a driver 140 yards and 8-iron and two feet.
ASHLEY CUSHMAN: Nice and close. And No. 12.
JI YOUNG OH: No. 12 I hit the driver and 110 and I used a 52.
ASHLEY CUSHMAN: How close to the hole?
JI YOUNG OH: It was tap-in.
ASHLEY CUSHMAN: Questions.
Q. You said today you were focused. More so than yesterday? I mean, did you have any different feeling just coming out today compared to yesterday?
JI YOUNG OH: No, every day I just stay to focus myself, uh-huh. Just every day the same.
Q. Compared to yesterday, maybe what wasn't going quite as well yesterday compared to today? What did you do better today?
JI YOUNG OH: Today I more -- my putter, the feel more comfortable will so I made a lot of birdie and I feel pretty good, really good. So I think more the feel better.
Q. You played here in the afternoon today. Usually in the afternoon maybe the greens get a little more spiked up. Were the conditions still pretty good out there as far as putting and everything compared to like if it was in the morning?
JI YOUNG OH: Today it's more dry, the course, so more hard the green. A little bit faster, but I like the faster green. Yeah, it's more dry.
Q. You talked about putting a little bit better today. Is that something you worked on after yesterday's round?
JI YOUNG OH: I just finish the round and I'm just a little bit tired because last week the tournament I -- maybe I have five tournament straight so I little tired right now.
I just go in my hotel and really just the putter, myself in my room.
Q. You mean you worked on your putting back in your hotel room?
JI YOUNG OH: Yeah, uh-huh.
Q. We're halfway through the tournament. Is this the best position you've been in this year?
JI YOUNG OH: I'm second time. It's at the MasterCard in Mexico.
Q. Were you maybe second place?
JI YOUNG OH: Uh-huh.
Q. Kind of like today, huh?
JI YOUNG OH: Yeah, of course.
Q. Did you learn anything from that first time, that first experience of being very close? Do you think you're maybe even more prepared to go into the weekend after going through that once?
ASHLEY CUSHMAN: Did you learn anything?
JI YOUNG OH: Yeah, lot of learn right now because I'm second year of my tour. Every day I learn.
ASHLEY CUSHMAN: Did you gain any experience at MasterCard in Mexico City being so close to the lead did it teach you any lessons?
JI YOUNG OH: No. Just my -- my just mental and I think just the practice and the mind just focus, too.
Q. I didn't read it in the media guide, but were you born in Korea?
JI YOUNG OH: Korea.
Q. When did your family come here?
JI YOUNG OH: Two years ago.
Q. Okay. Living in the United States, are you still leaning things every day? Are there still things you feel like you need to learn?
JI YOUNG OH: No, it's not different. I play two years ago amateur in Korea and then I come back here and I -- two years ago I played Q-School. So it's just different. Amateur and pro is different.
