ELMONT, NEW YORK
ERIC WING: Okay, Aidan O'Brien. Is on tight schedule. He has a plane to catch. Nice enough to come in briefly and discuss his terrific winner today, Johannesburg. Aidan, obviously no plans are ever cast in stone an hour or two after the race, but is a trip back to the States for the Kentucky Derby at least something or the Triple Crown Series at least something that would be under consideration as you enjoy the victory and think ahead?
AIDAN O'BRIEN: I'd say no doubt. No doubt would be serious, it serious consideration.
ERIC WING: Aidan, any concerns about him handling the dirt?
AIDAN O'BRIEN: We had a lot of concerns. Obviously, he's only raced on turf, hard and soft turf. He handled that so well. You couldn't be sure, handled fast ground very well.
ERIC WING: How did Galileo come back after the Classic as far as you could tell?
AIDAN O'BRIEN: He seemed fine. It's the end of a long, hard season. He's a three-year-old. First time on the surface, he just found it a little bit foreign the first time.
ERIC WING: Obviously you have to be high on a horse who comes into his race undefeated as Johannesburg did. Were you pleasantly surprised at all just how much he relished that added distance given the fact he had been sprinting till now?
AIDAN O'BRIEN: Obviously when he showed that much pace, he is just a serious colt. We never tried him any farther.
ERIC WING: How about a mile and a quarter though? Mile and 16th was a big test, how about going --
AIDAN O'BRIEN: You're never really sure really. So you are never sure really. He traveled really strong off the bend. Just, today he proved -- he got the trip real well.
ERIC WING: Trainers to some degree are creatures of habit just like the rest of us. When you have a great two-year-old such as Johannesburg, what is the manner in which you like him to win just in general?
AIDAN O'BRIEN: We probably keep him happy through the winter and keep him in one piece.
ERIC WING: Aidan, did you think Milan was a slightly unlucky looser?
AIDAN O'BRIEN: He ran a great race. He just got trapped a little bit. He ran a great race.
ERIC WING: Will he stay in training?
AIDAN O'BRIEN: He will stay in training.
ERIC WING: All right. Aidan, thank you very much for stopping by.
