Quick Quotes
Q. Great season for you so far. What's been going well for you?
MIRABEL TING: Yeah, I'm hitting the ball well, striking the ball well, putting the ball really well. Some putts drop and some putts doesn't. I guess it's just how golf works sometimes. But everything has been working well from tee to green.
Q. What are you expecting from yourself this week knowing obviously how well you've done the last few months?
MIRABEL TING: I'm not trying to expect so much out of this week. Trying to enjoy every moment. Not every one of us gets to play Augusta National every single year. So trying to just get out here and have fun and see where it takes me.
Q. What did you learn last year when you played that you're going to hopefully use this year to help?
MIRABEL TING: Knowing the course helps a little bit, and the greens are definitely similar to last year I would say. But I would say this year they're a little bit faster. And I don't think it's going to get so windy as we have on day two last year. That's kind of take everyone's chance off of it. Yeah, just staying patient out there and just waiting for things to drop.
Q. Obviously you're teammates with Lottie who did pretty well here last year. What's it like to have a teammate -- how do you interact this week different than your college golf season?
MIRABEL TING: I don't think we kind of change so much. We're both teammates, and I feel like we care about each other a lot. When we are in Florida State, when we have questions, we ask each other, and we will share. We still say hi to each other. She's kind of like the motivational inspiration for the team, for me, and look at the way that she works at FSU is just incredible.
Q. No. 1 and No. 3 in the world at the same school is also pretty incredible. How do you guys push each other to get better?
MIRABEL TING: For me, it's just seeing her out there every day. She can spend 24 hours on the golf course, but I cannot do that. I try to push myself to be like her, but I know that I won't exactly -- could be like her, but I try to spend as much hours out there.
I don't know about her, but she kind of pushed me a little bit, and she gets me a little, that push. Gets me a little bit more excited to play golf.
Q. What are you most looking forward to this week with this experience?
MIRABEL TING: I'm obviously looking forward to playing Augusta National again. I played one round during my freshman year because I studied at Augusta University and I transferred to Florida State and I got to play last year, so hopefully I'll get to play again this year. Yeah, hopefully just looking forward to that.
Q. Do you have friends and family here this week?
MIRABEL TING: I have my sister here.
Q. Was she here last year?
MIRABEL TING: She was here last year, as well, and now she's here this year.
Q. What's it do for you when you see a familiar face in the crowd when you're playing?
MIRABEL TING: Last year was a disaster at Augusta National because I couldn't see her. We as international students, we don't really get to see our family often and we don't get to see our home friends as often, as well. To have her come here all the way from home, it just means a lot. Every time I see her I just feel like crying. I'm just like so happy. Finally she's here. She's here.
