Quick Quotes
Q. Okay, here with Lydia after the second round of the Ford Championship today. Can you just talk about your second round today?
LYDIA KO: Yeah, you know, I feel like I had to stay really patient out there. Obviously playing in the afternoon the golf course was going to be a lot firmer than yesterday.
I had a birdie opportunity on 11 and I was like, wow, I feel like I haven't hit the ball really well but I just haven't had many looks for birdies. I just think because the greens have been a touch firmer, you know, instead of being like 15 feet I was like 30 feet away.
It was kind of good to kind of get that birdie momentum. But, yeah, nice way to cap off the round making three threes to finish the round.
Q. I was going to ask about that. What were your thoughts going into the last couple holes?
LYDIA KO: Yeah, you know, 16, the great thing about the golf course being firm is you can get pretty close to the green, and all three of us hit great drives down there.
Wasn't an easy chip shot just because it is hardpan, but I had a good chip and made a great up and down.
17 just I kind of used the wind to my favor. Being a little fader of the ball, having a left-to-ride wind is going to be more advantageous for me.
I had a really good shot there. No, in ways I think I hit and sometimes pray that it just ends up being in a good spot. I was able to capitalize on the quality golf shots by making the putts.
Q. And much do you have to kind of like you're saying pray those landing spots are out here, how much do you have to do that on this golf course?
LYDIA KO: It's marginal differences. On 17 I thought I hit a really solid shot yesterday and I think it hit on the wrong sides of the slope and I was in the bushes. I honestly walked up and didn't think my ball was going to end up there.
You just have to be smart and know which pins to kind of attack and which sides are better angles to go into some of these pin positions.
It's hard, but at the same time, you're hitting the ball further so you have shorter clubs in. So it's a double-edged sword. It's the same for everyone so you're just trying to play where what you get.
Q. Seemed like you guys had great energy on the course. How much did you bounce off each other a little bit?
LYDIA KO: Yeah, we had a great group. I haven't really played a lot with Ronni, but she has a game that I personally really like. I've been paired a lot with Charley. She's good at everything, so it was a great pairing.
I think we all played really solid. Charley was a bit of an inspiration for us yesterday shooting the 9-under par.
But it was a great group and you hope for more groups and pairings like that in the future. Yeah, it was fun out there.
