FORD CHAMPIONSHIP PRESENTED BY WILD HORSE PASS

March 28, 2025

Nelly Korda

Chandler, Arizona, USA

Whirlwind Golf Club

Quick Quotes

Q. All right, here with Nelly after the second round. Another good round. Top of the leaderboard. Can talk through today, starting on the back there?

NELLY KORDA: Yeah, you know, rolled in a birdie on my first hole, so got off to a good start. Slowed a little down on the back nine, but the wind picked up a little. It was starting to play a little bit firmer.

So in the mornings the greens are definitely a little bit more receptive so you can be bit more aggressive. Then once the round and the heat kind of starts to play a factor, you have to be a little bit more timid.

Q. And Jeeno just got the question about playing with and you feeding off your energy. How would you say the same for playing with her?

NELLY KORDA: Yeah, it was great. I think Patty actually said on the last hole, she was like, I love this group. It was like a great tempo; we kept our rhythm really nicely. When everyone is playing nicely you kind of feed off each other as well.

Q. Getting off to a fast start like this, you've had only a couple starts this season so far. What does that tell you about where your game was when you left it and all the effort you put in before this week?

NELLY KORDA: Yeah. Golf is just a really funny game. I mean, you can never kind of be comfortable. You just have to constantly practice, try to improve in every aspect of it. One day your chipping is great; next day it's the weakest part of your game, and vice versa with putting and whatnot. You're always trying to dial it in.

That's the funny thing about this game and also like the greatest thing about this game, is no one is ever going to be an expert and no one is ever going to have it actually figured out. You think you have it figured out and then you go out and play another golf course and you're like, I really don't have it figured out.

It just humbles you in a way and also continuously motivates you.

Q. To get off to the fast start and see the putts drop, what's the mindset for the next two days?

NELLY KORDA: Just kind of stay in my own bubble, have fun. The crowds have been great, so that's been fun to play in front of as well. Hopefully roll some putts in, yeah.

Q. Charley talked yesterday about how so much of this is building towards the bigger stuff to come. How do you not get too far ahead of yourself and stay in the moment?

NELLY KORDA: Yeah, I mean, every week is a different week. That's kind of my mindset. You know, you come out here and you want to improve every single day and you want to contend, so it's very different compared to any other sport.

It doesn't matter if you're first in the tournament or last. Everyone has an equal opportunity. You don't have an advantage because you're ranked higher.

All you have to do is just have a good attitude and just take it day by day, shot by shot.

Q. To follow up on that, she was talking about majors.

NELLY KORDA: Yeah.

Q. At what point do you start looking at that part of your season?

NELLY KORDA: The week I'm there.

Q. Yeah?

NELLY KORDA: Yeah, I don't like to look ahead.
