FORD CHAMPIONSHIP PRESENTED BY WILD HORSE PASS

March 27, 2025

Nanna Koerstz Madsen

Chandler, Arizona, USA

Whirlwind Golf Club

Quick Quotes

Q. Okay, here with Nanna after the first round of the Ford Championship. Great scorecard looking like today. A lot of birdies. Any of them stuck out to you at all or anything in your game that stuck out for you?

NANNA KOERSTZ MADSEN: It was fine. Stayed in fairways, so that made it a little easier. I had a fun birdie on 10. I hit it in the bunker and I -- my bunker shot would definitely have gone eight feet past, but it hit the flagstick and went straight in, so that was a good one.

Other than that I made a couple good putts and some good, steady birdies.

Q. What is it about this golf course that you really like? The first time being here for us. Just gaining perspective on like what really works for you.

NANNA KOERSTZ MADSEN: I mean, it's a pretty scorable course. There is a lot of birdie chances out there, but the greens are really firm, so that makes it a little trickier out there.

And I do like firm greens, so I guess the firm greens is what I like.

Q. And we just talked about your second lowest round, too, on the LPGA. Just how nice is it to see a number like that for your confidence and for all you're doing?

NANNA KOERSTZ MADSEN: It's always great to shoot these really low numbers. I didn't really know where the game was at going into the week. I was feeling sick last week so I couldn't really practice that much.

But, yeah, so just great to see a good number today.

Q. Obviously out here the ball flies 10, 15 yards further with the heat. How are you adjusting your yardages and how challenging is it to do that?

NANNA KOERSTZ MADSEN: I think it's really challenging on the wedges. It doesn't mean as much on the wedges but it still means something. Where the full shots you just pick a club less, but the wedges you kind of need to feel it a little bit more.

So definitely think the wedges are the trickiest part.

Q. I know it's firm and fast out there. Has it been nice to see the extra roll at least on the tee shots, or does it get you a little nervous because it does narrow out there?

NANNA KOERSTZ MADSEN: Yeah, definitely off the tee doesn't make it easy that it's firm because you have those run-offs down into those not-so-nice areas you don't want to be in.

So that makes it trickier. I think it's good for the course that it is firm, otherwise it will be very, very, very low scoring.

Q. We know the wind can pick up in the afternoon. As you look to tomorrow, what adjustments will you make if the wind does pick up or playing in the afternoon out here?

NANNA KOERSTZ MADSEN: Well, I think it's just the same, the driving, just got remember if you have some downwind, could it really kick a lot on this hole.

So just try and really make sure you're in the fairway and look at where the wind is coming from, yeah.
