FORD CHAMPIONSHIP PRESENTED BY WILD HORSE PASS

March 27, 2025

Frida Kinhult

Chandler, Arizona, USA

Whirlwind Golf Club

Quick Quotes

Q. All right, here with Frida after a first round 6-under, 66. Certainly a lot cooler today than it has been the last few days. You had a great first round. Talk us through what happened today.

FRIDA KINHULT: Yeah, no, it was a fun one. Never hurts with a 6-under, so good start.

I think I just played pretty steady all the way around. Kept it in play off the tee and then gave myself some good chances out there.

So it was definitely a fun Thursday, and I'm excited for the rest.

Q. Great. Looks like on your card you had seven birdies and the one bogey on No. 14. Any of those birdies particularly standout moments for you?

FRIDA KINHULT: Well, I had two tap-in ones on par-3s, so we were a little bit like hanging on them off the tee shots hoping to have drinks on me, but I guess we'll save those for later.

Yeah, no, tap-in birdie is always the comfortable ones. I think overall nothing crazy. It was just very, again, steady golf. Gave myself some good chances and hopefully continue to do that.

Q. Tell us your thoughts on the golf course here. I know this is the first time we've been here; been in the desert the last three years. What are your thoughts on Whirlwind this week?

FRIDA KINHULT: It's a fun one. Pretty straight forward off the tee. I think the greens are playing fairly firm compared to what we are used to, which I think it's probably what takes way bring from being -- I'm feeling it's going to be a pretty low scores this week, but maybe with firm greens it could challenge us a little bit, especially if the wind picks up.

But it's a fun one. Pretty gettable. Got to get your mind into birdie mindset. So, yeah, it's just fun. Good place.

Q. What is your experience with windy desert golf?

FRIDA KINHULT: I guess makes it a bit trickier. Kind of for the eyes it's still you have the desert, you have the green, green grass, so it's pretty like, yeah, easy to see where you want to hit it or not hit it.

Yeah, no. I like desert golf. I've had some solid results in the past out here. Yeah, just trying to make a run.

Q. What do you take away from today that you hope to put into use tomorrow?

FRIDA KINHULT: It was a couple small things. Had a couple wedges a little left. Might go to the range and fine tune those thing.

Overall, just keep the driving where it's been today. I really was happy with that. I struggled the first two events a little bit off the tee, so fun to see some work that we put that that actually worked this week. So yeah, no, just fine tuning and, then, yeah, keep the mindset in birdie game.
