A. FILS/A. Zverev
3-6, 6-3, 6-4
THE MODERATOR: Questions for Sascha, please.
Q. Tough loss. Obviously this kid we know has a world of talent. What really bothered you the most? Was it his slice or just his overall play? Played well at the net, as well. Second-serve points, all that stuff.
ALEXANDER ZVEREV: I don't know. I have been losing a lot of matches where I feel like I couldn't control lately. Yeah, it was similar today again. So I have to look at myself more than anything else.
Q. I know you guys are used to delays and rain and all that. Was it disruptive at all that you think you had to delay it to today? Was that an issue or not?
ALEXANDER ZVEREV: No, I don't think it was a big issue. We got canceled quite early, so there was nothing in the preparation for the match that changed.
Q. If you could also just talk about Arthur, too, what is it about him? He's still young and everything. What is it about his game that impresses you?
ALEXANDER ZVEREV: He's very powerful. He can accelerate from almost anywhere. But again, I think I have to look at myself more than anything right now.
Q. We spoke the other day, and you were mentioning how you sort of figured some things out. This loss, does that change any of that, or how are you thinking? Or do you leave here thinking, like, okay...
ALEXANDER ZVEREV: I think I definitely played better here than I did the last few weeks, but, I mean, I'm up a break in the third, there is no reason for me to lose that match. I go on to lose four games in a row or something like that, yeah.
At Indian Wells I'm serving for the match, and Rio I am up 4-1 in the third. In Buenos Aires I was up set and a break. I'm just losing a lot of matches from a winning position right now. I need to change that.
Q. As you make the shift from these courts into clay, you had said like you completely change your game. What is that process like in terms of getting used to it and you play your way in through some of these tournaments, but in terms of practice, how do you start?
ALEXANDER ZVEREV: I think it's something to do with court position, has something to do with footwork, as well. Footwork is very different on clay.
It's difficult for me to answer those questions right now. I mean, I'm disappointed with the loss, and again, I'm thinking about flights home now and how I get there, to be honest (smiling).
Q. Sascha, you were just explaining some of those winning positions that you're in and you have fallen away. Are you able to pinpoint if there is any common denominator at those points or those moments when you are up a break in a final set or up a set and a break, et cetera, as to what is causing a dip?
ALEXANDER ZVEREV: I don't know right now. I will have a conversation with the people around me, with people I work with, but right now I'm not sure.
