Quick Quotes
Q. Solid 67 today to move up the board give yourself a chance to be completely honest. How do you assess your round today and the week as a whole?
JORDAN SPIETH: Yeah, it was good. I got off to the start that you want to get off to on a Saturday and then I just feel like I turned a 7-under round into 4-under. Yesterday I felt like I turned 6-under round into 2-under. Just scoring, putting inside 10 feet's killed me this week. So I'm going to go work on that right now. You miss a couple that might be good putts that are misread, and then I start making some poor strokes. In general everything's fine with it. You get around the hole here and they get pretty tricky. I felt like I missed a couple early and then it started to look smaller. So yeah, just, I mean, other than chipping and inside 10 feet putting I'm leading this golf tournament. So I feel pretty good about my game as a whole, because those two just require a time to fix 'em and can get pretty streaky in a good way.
Q. Playing three rounds with J.T., a fun vibe, does it feel in a way like match play against him in a Saturday two-ball --
JORDAN SPIETH: Not really, I didn't feel that way. I always want to, at the end I wanted to get to where I was tied with him so we could just play again tomorrow. But we always want to beat each other when we're playing with each other and that pushes us to play better. But the last couple times he's gotten the better of me, so -- and he was going to be hard to beat at 6-under today. It was just that last like five, that last eight holes for me I felt like I left two, three out there and he capitalized. Being at 5-under, like he is, you probably have a pretty good chance at this golf tournament, considering he could go shoot another 6-under tomorrow and then have a chance to win. For me I'm a little bit further behind, I was trying to get to 4 or 5 today, to really have a chance. But the conditions are so good today that I feel like guys are going to get out there and get scoring and it's a tough golf course for sure, but without the wind being up in the afternoon it's not quite that early Saturday round that makes up all the ground I feel like some guys are going to shoot some 4-, 5-unders for the lead today.
Q. Can you discuss the last couple of holes. You made a nice putt, brought it in, you point guard 18, seemed like you finished on a pretty good note?
JORDAN SPIETH: Yeah, it was nice. I wish I hit it better into 16, I kind of, yeah, 17 and 18 were nice. I saw J.T.'s on 17 and so I took quite a bit off of mine after watching him hit one that I thought was going in the hole and it went way long. Wind was kind of all over the place today, which is better than blowing 30 like the other two days. On those kind of shots it's nice if you see one first. So I took a little off of mine and was able to be more aggressive up the hill. It was nice to make one after I had missed the ones on 12 and 15. So it was nice to feel like I stole one back there. Then from where I was off the tee on 18 just on the down slope in the rough, I would have signed for 4. So it's always nice to finish never lose shots coming in. Even if you shoot 2-under, but -- like yesterday when I was 3-over in my last four, even if I shot the same score today but finished under par at the end you just feel better. So it was nice to see one go in on 17 and I feel good with the putter in my hands, I just would like to be a little more fluid on some of the shorter ones and I feel like I've created enough opportunities tee to green, big improvements from last week in approach play, it just shows that this is really where I'm at and last week was kind of a fluke on that golf course. So I feel really good about where the game's at, I feel like I'm playing better than I'm scoring this week and that's a good thing, especially if you're not winning.
