Q. It took one more day than you would have liked, but you are the 51st PLAYERS champion and making the Irish happy on St. Patrick's day. Arguably the toughest conditions we have had all week this morning. How did you have to adjust for this playoff?

RORY McILROY: Yeah, wind coming out of a completely different direction. Yeah, I'm just glad we didn't have to play 18 in that. Three was enough.

I feel bad for J.J.; he hit a really good shot on 17 and it just went straight through the wind. I was lucky to do enough to get it done.

Unbelievably proud and happy to win my second PLAYERS Championship. This is the third time I've won on St. Patrick's day, so it's been a good luck charm for me.

Q. We were really impressed with how decisive you were with your club selection on the 17th tee. How confident were you that the 9-iron was the right one for the island green today?

RORY McILROY: Yeah, I was warming up with the TrackMan this morning and tried to hit a few shots with the same wind direction on the range. I knew it was the same distance as yesterday, and I just sort of had that little three quarter 9-iron dialed in. Once we got up there, I knew what to do, and made a good swing.

Q. I know you're a man of history; this is your 28th PGA TOUR title. You're just the eighth multiple winner of THE PLAYERS. How hard have you worked to get your hands back on this trophy?

RORY McILROY: Yeah, I have. I've worked really hard. I feel like I'm a way more complete player than I was a few years ago. Even in conditions like this. That little 9-iron into 17, the little 8-iron into the last there, I said to Harry there, that little shot will take us a long way.

I feel like I can play in all conditions and anything that comes my way. Really happy that I was able to get it done today.
