WOMEN'S AMATEUR ASIA-PACIFIC CHAMPIONSHIP

March 6, 2025

Mannat Brar

Pattaya, Thailand

Quick Quotes

Q. Mannat, great round today. You're in a pretty good spot in your fourth I believe championship. Talk us through your round today.

MANNAT BRAR: It was great. It was really nice in the first half. It was nice and cool. It wasn't as breezy as I was excepting it to be. It was just the mood was good, the vibes were good, fans around.

So it was just a very positive first half of the round, which just transferred into the second half. Was just a good day overall.

Q. You started on the back nine?

MANNAT BRAR: Yeah.

Q. A lot of scoring opportunities there; is that fair to say?

MANNAT BRAR: Yes, definitely. I would say the back nine is shorter and kind of can make some more birdies there. The wind being a little lesser during the first half of the day, was definitely a good time to be playing the back nine, yeah.

Q. You put yourself in a really strong position to make the weekend. On Saturday, much of the same, same play today?

MANNAT BRAR: Yes. I'm not really thinking of making into the weekend or anything like that. Just showing up tomorrow, playing my own game, just having fun on this beautiful golf course, and whatever happens, happens.

Q. Can you just summarize the round for us?

MANNAT BRAR: Started off good. It was a good stable opening hole, and it went on to 11, 12, 13, 14; some pretty short holes and I got some wedges in. I stuck those, and just was a good mood that I was in.

Coming into 15, 16, another -- I had a good strategy in place and the wedges did their job. They were close to the hole and just made some putts and translated well.

Q. This is your fourth WAAP. The first three were not so great. So like what is the difference that you see in yourself this time?

MANNAT BRAR: I think confidence-wise I'm a little better. I've played quite a bit last year. I played abroad, I played in Europe, so I was well versed with the windy conditions so that helped a lot because I've seen a lot. This was pretty mild for me.

I think that was the biggest difference, playing a lot, seeing such great players. It was eye opening and that helped.

Q. Last year you finished third in the R&A Girls, and you also had the experience of playing with the professionals. How much has that helped you now?

MANNAT BRAR: Yes, the R&A Girls, it was quite an experience. It was match play event and it was brutal. Again, gave me a lot of the confidence. It assured me that I can win and that's really something that I was missing so that was much needed.

As far as professional events are back home, I'm just looking for more and more competition so, yeah, playing those do help.

Q. Your father has been there with you throughout your life from a very young age. How much of an influence has he had on you?

MANNAT BRAR: No, definitely. The morals he stands by is hard work and perseverance. That's kind of instilled in me as well, so that's what I'm trying to do, and just keep my head down and keep working hard. Yeah, just hope for the best.
