COGNIZANT CLASSIC

February 27, 2025

Daniel Berger

Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, USA

PGA National Champion Course

Quick Quotes

Q. Great round today. You went bogey free 8-under. Can you talk about how today went, how the golf course felt?

DANIEL BERGER: I thought I played well, but then someone shot 59. Clearly the course was not the old Bear Trap that we're used to. But still a great start to the event, and just got to continue to do what I did today for the next three days.

Q. What's the game plan going into tomorrow?

DANIEL BERGER: I guess make birdies because it's playing soft and short, and the greens are perfect. Just keep doing what I did.

Q. You made a lot of great shots today, but how key was it, after going into the palm tree, to come back and essentially eagle and save par?

DANIEL BERGER: It was an interesting start to the day. I really didn't feel like I hit that bad of a shot, and then next thing you know, I saw everybody trying to look for my ball. Definitely not the way you want to start a round. But kind of hung in there and made a great chip for par, and that kind of got the round going a little bit. Even though it was for par, it felt good.

Q. Is that important for your early psyche to come back and do -- could it just throw you off if that hole is a mess?

DANIEL BERGER: Yeah, it definitely could have been a mess. You can make a double bogey really quick and you're 2-over on an easy par-5 that you should make birdie. It was good to kind of grind it out and make a par.
