HSBC WOMEN'S WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP

February 25, 2025

Lilia Vu

Republic of Singapore

Sentosa Golf Club

Press Conference

THE MODERATOR: Welcome to the 2025 HSBC Women's World Championship. Just one quick question for you, your second start of the Asia Swing here in the spring, what are you looking forward to most about being at Sentosa Golf Club.

LILIA VU: I think I really enjoy this tournament because a lot of the crowd comes out. I feel like Singapore and HSBC really support and love women's golf, and I feel that energy every time I come. I think the other girls say the same. They really enjoy coming here. So should be a good week.

THE MODERATOR: And you did something very fun this morning. What did you do.

LILIA VU: Yeah, we went up to Marina Bay Sands, the upper deck, and I did some shoots with the trophy and with the other girls. Saw people doing yoga. Saw people doing pool exercises. There was like a whole class. We spent some time up there.

THE MODERATOR: Sounds fun. I'll open it up for questions.

Q. You had to withdraw in the past; what are your thoughts being back here this week?

LILIA VU: Yeah, I'm super excited to be back here in full health. I usually look forward to this tournament. I feel like this golf course is really fun to play. You can't really be on autopilot. You kind of have to think, and it's full of character. I think that's the best and fun golf. Usually it shows in whoever wins the tournament. So excited to be here.

Q. Can you talk about last year, going through some injuries, but how did that prepare you for this season?

LILIA VU: I think I look at golf in a different lens now. I'm not too worried about the technical part of it. I'm kind of more worried on my health day-to-day and just maintaining and getting stronger. I think, you know, as long as I'm healthy, I'll be okay and be able to kind of play my best golf.

Q. I know you had a difficult year last year with injury but the year before was a cracker. You won two majors and another tournament. Which of those wins, if any, stands out from the rest?

LILIA VU: They are all so different, and I take a good chunk of confidence from each of them. I feel like, you know, Honda, winning in Thailand in 2023 really solidified that I was doing the right steps, adding the right people and just putting in the work it paying off from the off-season.

I can talk about each one differently, and you know, they all gave me a different confidence. I think the AIG Women's Open was huge for me because I did -- also went through a little back thing before that, and wasn't able to perform really well at the U.S. Open. I was kind of worried, but just kept moving forward.

Didn't really think too much about my back, and was kind of -- wheels were falling off in the middle of the season even though I started off really well.

Then Women's Open happened, and kind of showed how resilient I am and kind of gave me that confidence.
