Q. Okay, here with Gabi Ruffels after her first round. Solid round to start the tournament. Just what were your thoughts on today?

GABRIELA RUFFELS: Yeah, no, it was really good. Really solid. Started off really good. I think I was 3-under through 4. Putts were going in. It was really good. I was 6-under I think through 11.

Couple bogeys coming in, but there were some tough holes out there, gettable ones. Overall pretty happy with the round.

Q. This is your first time playing this event, right?

GABRIELA RUFFELS: Yeah.

Q. What is sticking out about this event to you?

GABRIELA RUFFELS: Yeah, it's really cool. It was a long travel to get here. I have my mom here this week, which has been fun. Trying some Thai food. The pro-am party last night was really cool. Playing with my group last night they showed me some Thai dishes at the pro-am party. It's been really fun to experience a new culture.

Q. Anything that this course reminds you of that you played in the past?

GABRIELA RUFFELS: I mean, the weather. I would say Malaysia. Super humid out here. I feel like it's a sauna I'm sweating so much.

But, yeah, it's just kind of Asian golf is a bit different to the U.S., just kind of dealing with the conditions out here a bit more, too.

Q. First full year as a rookie. What were some of the things you learned from last year you're carrying on to your second year?

GABRIELA RUFFELS: Yeah, just kind of managing myself. Managing the travel. Just kind of the non-golf stuff I feel like. Feel like I played a lot last year and kind of towards the second half the year I was pretty dead, pretty burnt out from all the travel.

But it was so much fun. I always have fun traveling. I love traveling. I guess just kind of enjoying it a bit more this year and kind of pacing myself a bit more.

Q. I saw some fun Instagram posts. Did you do anything fun in the offseason that was really important to you?

GABRIELA RUFFELS: Just hung out with family. Went to the Bahamas, which was fun, after CME for a week, which was so much fun. First time there. It was my little vacation I guess.

For golfers I feel like our vacation is just staying home and having a solid routine, so it was really fun.
