Press Conference
Q. Tyler, your emotions at this moment?
TYLER HERRO: Just happy, enjoying the moment, happy to be here. I was definitely nervous going into the first round. But I thought I shot it pretty well in the second round, and then Buddy had the chance to tie it at the end.
Obviously a great competition, a bunch of great shooters. Like I said, just happy to be here.
Q. There's obviously a long tradition of Heat guys, for whatever reason, winning this event. How much of that did you know, and how much -- I guess as a second part of that, did it go to your advantage to shoot first in the final round, just throw down a number and make somebody catch you?
TYLER HERRO: I think so. Definitely going first helped. Also, it felt cold in the arena the first time I went. For the second time, I felt more loose going right away.
Then like I said, having a bunch of great shooters, I think putting a number down right away, putting a little pressure on them, I think that played a factor.
Q. How does it feel to put your name down next to OGs like Steph Curry and Damian Lillard?
TYLER HERRO: Yeah, it means a lot, like I said. I feel like a lot of great shooters, a lot of great players, some of the greats to play this game have won this award -- not award, this competition. Just happy to put my name in the history books for All-Star Weekend.
Q. It's obviously been a tough season. You guys are three games below .500. But to win this competition, is it almost a breath of fresh air to be in this environment, be an All-Star, like something different from what you guys have gone through this season?
TYLER HERRO: Honestly, I think the record isn't what we want it to be, but I feel like there's a breath of fresh air around our locker room, our arena, our city. I think it's well before this trophy was won. I think there's a breath of fresh air just around the whole organization, and I'm happy to represent us and be here for our organization and our city, just to represent and win this competition.
Q. I guess this is a win that highlights the Heat's culture and all the work that you put in. Outside basketball, is there any athlete that you look up in terms of work ethic?
TYLER HERRO: Kobe. Just his mentality. RIP Kobe. But just everything, the greatness and the history that he left behind. He inspired so many people. He's still inspiring, not even being here. I think that alone says a lot.
I think his work ethic, the time he put in, everything that he did, he took serious. Everything mattered. I think that that goes a long way.
So yeah, I think this counts for something. Obviously, it's just the three-point shootout, but it counts for something.
Q. Outside of basketball, is there any other sport or athletes that you look up to as a player or the Miami Heat as a team?
TYLER HERRO: Not really, honestly, no. I only watch basketball, for real. Maybe a little bit of baseball, football. But I don't really look at anyone else.
