CHUBB CLASSIC PRESENTED BY SERVPRO

February 14, 2025

Ernie Els

Naples, Florida, USA

Tiburón Golf Club

TV

Q. Great incoming eight holes I would say. What flipped the script for you?

ERNIE ELS: John, I mean, I was a little in first gear there for a long time. Made a nice birdie on 9 and I didn't put a 3-iron in the bag. I had a 2- and 4-iron. I hit that shot on 10 way left, so that wasn't good.

Wasn't swinging that great. Got a great up and down on the next hole, 11. Then I made birdie on the par-5. Then I started hitting some good shots.

But I got to step it up a little bit. You know, the guys are going to score well this weekend.

Q. Yeah, you say you didn't play that great but you're only one off the lead. This weekend, what's it going to take?

ERNIE ELS: Let's look at the weather. It's beautiful now, really hot. Let's see what the wind does. I see the wind might blow on Sunday a little bit out of the north. Just want to stay in it, kind of in striking distance with the guys, and see what the leaderboard is doing.

There are a lot of guys bunched up, probably 20 guys within two or three shots. Probably play itself out by Sunday afternoon. Just want to stay in the mix.

Q. You've been all over the globe the last month or so. How is the body feeling?

ERNIE ELS: Yeah, I was a little tight again. I was tight in Morocco and got it going. Had some good treatment Sunday and Monday with my man Tom Bush from Georgia. I think I'm going to be okay.
