THE MODERATOR: Let's welcome Patrick Reed from 4Aces GC. You are only the second person in LIV Golf history to get a hole-in-one on the Watering Hole. Tell us about that moment.
PATRICK REED: Yeah, it just happened to be a perfect 8-iron number for me, and I figured why not go ahead and hit a great golf shot considering the first two shots I hit to start the day weren't very good. Right when I hit it, I knew it was going to be really good. Did I know it was going to go in? No. I guess I just started the party really early for everybody.
Q. I saw you this morning and asked you what your walk-out song was. What did it end up being?
PATRICK REED: "Hustling" from Rick Ross.
Q. Is that going to be your walk-out song now forever and always?
PATRICK REED: Yeah, I guarantee. They played it there on 1, too, and I hit a good drive. I still think that fairway is impossible to hit. But the two times that song came on, I hit two golf shots exactly how I wanted to. Hopefully they can just play it nonstop around the golf course. That kind of helped me out a little bit.
Besides that one hole, it was ugly, but it was awesome to give the fans some excitement, especially there early on and get them going early. It's always nice, especially to do it in front of your teammates. That was cool and an awesome moment. For us to go 1, 2, 3 on that hole was pretty fun.
Q. Obviously we've watched Chase Koepka's hole-in-one moment on replay over and over again own moment. How does it compare to what you saw, and was it truly one of the most memorable moments of your career?
PATRICK REED: Yeah, it was unreal. My throat still hurts from it. The crazy thing was the adrenaline afterwards. I was shaking going back to the tee and just couldn't kind of calm down and settle into the round after that point. It's one of those things that you don't really expect.
To be honest, when Chase made the hole-in-one to that flag the first time, I'm sitting there going, all right, man, that's an awesome moment, great time to do it, especially on a hole like that. To set up there and feel like you gave one away right off the bat on the first hole and then step up on your second hole and hit a perfect iron shot like that and watch it go in was awesome.
I know the caddies and the guys I was playing with, as they were walking off the green, they were just complaining about how soaked they were. I didn't feel anything. I couldn't feel anything at that point.
No, it's awesome. It's awesome to give the fans what they want. That's why we want to be out here; golf but louder. Anytime you can bring that energy, especially at a place like this, these crowds are outstanding, and to go out there on that hole and give them what they want, it's always nice not having to putt on any hole. It was awesome.
Q. Are you going to keep that golf ball forever now?
PATRICK REED: Yeah, the golf ball is in the golf bag, and it'll be hung up with the five other golf balls I have.
Q. When you guys won as a team here a couple years ago, I think you did a shoey, so you're kind of accustomed to how it is around here in Australia, right?
PATRICK REED: Yeah, it was too early in the round to do one, though. Being the second hole of the day, I still had a lot of golf holes to go. It's funny because that's exactly what Harold said to me. He's like, man, why couldn't this be our second-to-last hole or last hole for that to happen. It's just kind of one of those things that the celebration that comes afterwards -- they've got the fans here and the guys around here, it's awesome.
But hopefully we can try to figure something out for the next two days to have some low scores out there and shoot some low numbers. You never know, get back up on that podium and do a shoey again with everybody.
Q. You didn't get soaked? Your shirt wasn't soaked?
PATRICK REED: I couldn't feel anything at that point. I was just pumped up with adrenaline when that thing went in. I saw cups and beers and liquid flying everywhere. I guarantee you -- my golf bag looked a little sticky when I was walking off the golf course.
Yeah, no, that's what we kind of expected. If somebody makes a hole-in-one on a hole like that, you expect just craziness and chaos, and it was. The great thing, I felt like everyone did it the right way. No one got hurt, which is good. You just never know with stuff flying around out there. I was glad to kind of go ahead and get out there and give them something that they wanted.
Q. Did you smell like beer?
PATRICK REED: I smell like a lot of things. I was all over the place today. I probably smell like dirt, grass, bushes, trees, fairway. Who knows what I smell like at this point.
BRYSON DECHAMBEAU: Are the drinks on you tonight?
PATRICK REED: I don't know if I can afford your drinks.
