AFRICA AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP

February 6, 2025

Michael Karanga

Malelane, Mpumalanga, South Africa

Quick Quotes

Q. Okay, Michael, 2-under par, 70. How pleased are you with that performance?

MICHAEL KARANGA: I'm very happy today with my performance, my two days' performance. Yesterday 4-under, today minus-2. I'm still in contention.

Q. What were the highlights of the round for you? What were the best parts of the round?

MICHAEL KARANGA: Today it was a bit tough. I played -- I had some bogeys yesterday. Managed my game, I didn't get bogeys, but today there was bogeys and I left some few putts which I could have made and go even deeper.

Q. And you're obviously contending into in the weekend. Sitting in second place just now. How much confidence does that give you for the two rounds ahead?

MICHAEL KARANGA: Now is good because now I'll be in the pressure group probably competing with the best; it's a privilege. Hope to show them my skills.

Q. Do you find that you're now adapting to Leopard Creek and being able to understand the course better?

MICHAEL KARANGA: Yeah, yeah. The days I've played from the practice round up to now I've learned something on the golf course. As I said yesterday, just keeping the ball in play and you can score.

Q. Looking forward to tomorrow; going for another low score?

MICHAEL KARANGA: Even lower. My target is play 6-under.
