AFRICA AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP

February 6, 2025

Bryan Newman

Malelane, Mpumalanga, South Africa

Quick Quotes

Q. Bryan, 3-under par 69. How are you feeling after that performance?

BRYAN NEWMAN: I feel great. I had a really good finish, sweet finish, so I'm really happy.

Q. Talk us through that finish: five birdies on the way home; three birdies at the end of the round. How much confidence does that give you?

BRYAN NEWMAN: Gives me a lot of confidence. I've been playing well on the back nine the last two days. Yesterday I shot 5-under on the back nine; today 4-under.

Yesterday's back nine gave me confidence into today's back nine, so I was really -- felt I was going to do well.

Q. Was there a particular highlight in the round today that stood out for you?

BRYAN NEWMAN: Yeah, definitely on 16 when I hit my 8-iron really close. Gave me a great opportunity for birdie and that kick started my finish on the way in.

Q. Obviously right in contention going into the weekend. What's the game plan now?

BRYAN NEWMAN: Yeah, I'm really excited. I'm just going to try and keep doing what I'm doing. Maybe make a few less bogeys on the front nine, but looking forward to it.

Q. Leopard Creek, you have two rounds under your belt now. Feel like you're getting to know the course well?

BRYAN NEWMAN: Yeah, for sure. It's obviously a really good course. It shows who has been playing best and it's great condition so I'm really enjoying it.
