Waialae Country Club

Quick Quotes

Q. Can you take us through your birdies and eagle today?

ADAM HADWIN: 143 on 8, wind basically left to right, perfect little kind of three quarter 9-iron, gave myself some room on the left, let it drift over, never expecting a tap-in but you'll take it.

I hit an okay tee shot. It didn't move as much left to right as I thought it would and I thought I was in the bunker getting up there on 9, and I don't know what happened. Either it skipped through or something happened but I was in the fairway and had a clean shot. Perfect number from 216 for a 3-iron. Just kind of let it go up into the wind, fell right, and I'd love to see the video because I think it had a chance.

But again, yeah, just a couple feet past the hole, and no stress.

Q. What was the course's strongest defense today?

ADAM HADWIN: I think the biggest thing around this, the fairways are pretty firm, running out. So as this wind continues to pick up, just with the angles, it can be difficult to hit fairways, and then from there a lot of it's just a big guess. You're kind of guessing. The savior for us is that the greens are still soft. So if you can guess the right number, it will hold on the greens.

Years past when the greens have gotten firm, this place gets impossible it seems like. It's relatively playable right now.

Q. What are your goals and expectations for this season?

ADAM HADWIN: Continue to get better. I think the top of the list is get back in the winner's circle again, get back to the TOUR Championship. Those are kind of the two that are always in the top. No team events this year to shoot for. So yeah, get back in the winner's circle and get back to East Lake.

Q. Without those team events, does that sort of free you up to not be focused on those throughout the year?

ADAM HADWIN: I hope so. I hope so. It was pretty clear that it got to me last year and I didn't play my best golf kind of summer and on to the Playoffs. A bit of a wake-up call, slap in the face to not be there in Canada last year with the boys, and disappointed for sure, but new year and keep grinding away.
