LIV GOLF PROMOTIONS

December 12, 2024

Bo Hoag

Ian Snyman

Riyadh, Saudi Arabia

Riyadh Golf Club

Press Conference

THE MODERATOR: We're joined by our joint leaders at 6-under par, Bo Hoag from the USA and Ian Snyman from South Africa. Well played today. Ian, can you talk us through your round after the first round of LIV Golf Promotions here at Riyadh Golf Club.

IAN SNYMAN: The round started kind of slow. I bogeyed the first hole, missed a couple of putts, and then we got it going. We birdied the par-3, which was 6. We birdied 7. We birdied 8. Then parred 9. That kind of got the momentum going.

I missed a one-foot putt on 10, which kind of broke the momentum. But we managed to get it back nicely with an eagle on 15. Just overall steady day after the first few holes.

BO HOAG: I had a good opening hole. Hit it to seven feet or so on the first hole and knocked it in. Nice to get off to a good start, get under par early. Game just felt solid the whole day. Bogey free and made it pretty easy on myself.

Q. The field resets tomorrow. You can sleep easy going into the second round. What's the mindset going into round 2?

IAN SNYMAN: It's basically the same thing. Give ourselves opportunities. The putter has been working. Played well last week, so try and get it close to the hole and make some putts.

BO HOAG: Yeah, pretty similar. Try to rinse and repeat. I was happy with my game today. Gave myself a lot of looks and a couple good saves, too. Yeah, just tried to stay in the same mode.

Q. Ian, have you spoken to any of the guys from Stinger GC about LIV Golf before coming into this week?

IAN SNYMAN: So I actually played the first two LIV events, so I got a taste of it. I have been talking to Charl and Gracey and asking how things have changed over the last two years. It's exciting. It's something we all want to be part of. I like the team aspect.

That's why we're here. That's why we're giving it a shot, and we'll see what happens.

Q. Ian, you were on the Cleeks team the first two tournaments. I'm just curious what you learned or what you learned from that experience and what that was like. It was pretty chaotic if I recall.

IAN SNYMAN: Yeah, I think it was new still, the shotgun start and the format, which I kind of like. The like the fact that we're all playing the golf course at the same time.

The team aspect, I wouldn't say I had -- it was a wow moment for me because I didn't know the guys that much and we were all kind of new to each other, so we didn't have the chemistry maybe that the Stingers have or some of the other teams that you see nowadays. It was just another golf tournament.

But for me, it was a big thing playing with the big games, Phil, Bryson and Brooks and Cam and all these guys were in the field, so it was a great measuring stick for me to see how I match up to these guys.

Q. Bo, you've seen a lot of golf over the years. What is it about this opportunity? What's come to the drawing point where you are with your career and the possibility of having 14 LIV Golf starts next year?

BO HOAG: Yeah, it's a great opportunity to play golf over here. I've actually never played overseas, so it was something new for me. Long flight over here.

Yeah, at the end of the day, it was a great opportunity to see where we can play.

Q. Is that something that appeals to you is the global schedule and kind of a rattle-the-cages moment in your career?

BO HOAG: Yeah, I think it would be fun. I don't have a whole lot of experience globally, but seeing different parts of the world is appealing, and different kinds of golf, see how your game travels across the world. Yeah, I would say so.

Q. Can you talk about your eagle?

IAN SNYMAN: I hit a really nice drive on No. 12, and that sort of got the driver going. I just told myself, just bomb this thing. I hit it nicely down the right side of the fairway. Had 244 meters to the pin, which was a perfect hybrid. Hit it to about three and a half meters from the pin right at it. I was like, go, get in there, but it was a little bit short. Couldn't see from back there. And yeah, managed to make the putt.
