Quick Quotes
Q. Here with Ally Ewing officially retiring after this round today. Just describe the emotions of walking down the 18th fairway and green and finishing out.
ALLY EWING: Yeah, I was just avoiding eye contact with anyone in my family. I knew if I saw it then I was probably going to lose it. Just very appreciative, grateful for all the LPGA has been able to do for me.
Just finishing here at CME, you know, played pretty good golf at the same time. Just very thankful.
Q. Talk about you turned around and your whole squad was there, flowers, dog. What was it like to see them all there?
ALLY EWING: Yeah, yeah, obviously super special. I've got so many people who have loved and supported me for a really long time. I got four grandparents at home who have watched way more golf than people know.
I've just -- I'm just overwhelmed with how much love and support I've had. Even though this chapter is closing, they are so excited to have me around a little bit more and I'm excited to do that as well.
Q. And just how would you put into our words this week as a whole? Being honored at the Rolex Awards; played some really great golf this week, too. What's it like to go out on this note?
ALLY EWING: Yeah, it's pretty special. I didn't really know what this week was going to hold for me performance-wise, especially just with everything that's going on behind the scenes.
So to play good golf, and the Founder's Award obviously is one the most special honors I think I could ever receive. Just so many things I'm grateful for.
And then I'll just be happy to see people when I can come back out here.
Q. When you first started this tournament what were you thinking?
ALLY EWING: When I first started this tournament like today? Or this week?
Q. Yeah, today.
ALLY EWING: Today? I was thinking about how I just wanted to enjoy the day knowing this was going to be my last round of competitive golf. I just wanted to hit good shots and hopefully make some birdies.
You know, maybe shoot under par. So I was happy with my round.
Q. You did great today.
ALLY EWING: Thank you.
Q. If you had a favorite club what would it be?
ALLY EWING: I kind of like my 8-iron. That's one of my favorite ones. Now that I'm going into retirement who knows what it will be.
Q. Just your career as a whole on the LPGA, what do you think you'll look back most on?
ALLY EWING: I think Solheim Cups are always going to be up there. And I mean, honestly, the wins are great but the relationships are really special. Having family here but then also as many players that came out and supported me, finishing on 18 and even just the notes that have been left in my locker this week it's been incredibly special to have built relationships like this.
We're competing against each other and everybody wants to win and it's been special just to have people that truly care.
Q. And looks like Rusty and you will be spending a lot for time together.
ALLY EWING: That's right. Thank you very much. I'm very excited.
