Quick Quotes
Q. Here with Lucy Li after the third round of the CME Group Tour Championship. Just talk through your round today. Finished with two birdies.
LUCY LI: Yeah, started off the round really well, 4-under through 8. I just hit it well, putted well all day. Missed a couple short ones which was a real bummer, but still happy with how I putted.
It's one of those things you get a move on and keep going, so it was really good to finish with two birdies.
Q. Yeah. And you mentioned putting well. Just talk about these greens as well, how you adapted to them over the past couple rounds.
LUCY LI: Yeah, I mean, playing Pelican last week, those greens are so fast and tricky that I feel like any green you play after that seems easy.
So just a little bit of that experience coming off the fast bermuda greens and just stuff I've been working on just starting to work. So, yeah.
Q. And we've had some wind out here over the past couple days. How have you managed that and stayed patient throughout that?
LUCY LI: Yeah, first two days were really windy. I saw that on the forecast on Wednesday so I just mentally prepared for that. I like playing in the wind so I knew that controlling your ball flight was going to be pretty important out here, so I feel like I did a pretty good job of that the first couple days.
Q. Being one of the top 60 players to compete in this field and make it here, how would you describe your season getting to this point, and how excited are you to be here this week.
LUCY LI: Yeah I'm so stoked to be here. I've had a really up and down year. Started off well and kind of struggled in the middle. I'm just really proud of the way I finished the year strong.
So I'm just happy to be here.
Q. Couple years ago you were on Epson Tour. Obviously this progression for you has been a really quick rise. What has it meant to you to see yourself grow into one of the top 60 players on the LPGA Tour over the last couple years?
LUCY LI: Yeah, I've been pro for five years now which seems like a really long time. I've just learned that golf is hard and you just have to stay in the present. That's like a lesson I learned over and over again the past few years as a pro.
I think I finally was able to stay really patient and present this year and kind of ride out my -- a little bit of the struggles in the middle of the season.
And so that's just something that I've learned throughout my years as a professional. So just being here, I'm really proud of.
Q. How excited are you to contending for a historic $4 million first place check tomorrow?
LUCY LI: Yeah, really exciting. Terry Duffy and CME and their support of women's golf is really unparalleled and I think that's really amazing. For me, I have to treat every shot, every round the same.
