Pelican Golf Club

Quick Quotes

Q. Okay, here with Olivia Cowan after her third round here at The ANNIKA. Olivia, two bogey-free rounds in a row. How hard was that to do on this golf course?

OLIVIA COWAN: Well, this golf course definitely isn't easy, so every birdie out there is a really good one. A lot of pars out there are really good as well.

So the greens are really quick. I had a lot of the downhill putts today, so I was literally just tapping them down that hill. Luckily I putted really well. I putt myself in good positions, and made some up and downs to stay bogey-free.

Q. A lot of people have said that the putting has been so important. Do you feel the same way, that the putting has really made or broken a round?

OLIVIA COWAN: Yeah, definitely. I said to my caddie, John, I said at the start of the week, if I can go without any three-putts this week, then I'll do pretty good.

I did have one on day one. Yeah, no, because the greens are so quick. You just have to really concentrate on those putts and kind of never lose focus. Otherwise it will get away from you very quickly.

Q. You came in this week as one of the players on the bubble needing a good week. What have you proven to yourself with your play?

OLIVIA COWAN: I've been playing pretty well recently. I'm trying to just enjoy it. I think that was the main thing that I kind of lost throughout the season.

I wasn't enjoying golf anymore. So I took kind of a couple weeks off and kind of came back. I played the Wentworth pro-am with Billy Horschel and played really well.

It was really nice to play with him. He gave me a lot of confidence and saying nice things about my game. I felt really good about it. Played good in Arkansas the week after.

So kind of started a bit of a momentum and yeah, just been trying to enjoy it since then.

Q. As much mentally as physically getting things turned around?

OLIVIA COWAN: Oh, yeah, golf I would say is mostly mentally. We're all good enough to win out there. Whoever has the best head is going to do well.
