Team Spain
Press Conference
THE MODERATOR: Hello, everyone. Let's start the press conference with Team Spain for Billie Jean King Cup.
We'll start with English questions, and after, we will change into Spanish. So please, first, English questions.
Q. Nice to see you all. Could I start with Paula? I think you said yesterday this year had been a bit of a roller coaster. Could I ask how challenging a year it's been but at the same time how pleasing it is to be here and be lining up alongside your teammates this week?
PAULA BADOSA: Yeah, I mean, I think it was a roller coast of a year. I had all the emotions. I think everything has happened.
But honestly, I finished it in a very good way and good form. I'm really happy to be here representing my country with all of them, so I'm really looking forward to that, especially starting on Wednesday.
Q. Jessie, how much excitement is there for you, potential to play Billie Jean King Cup here in Spain this week? What would that mean to you?
JESSICA BOUZAS MANEIRO: I mean, for me, it's everything. It's my first time here, so I'm so excited to be here to give my 100% just on the court or out of the court.
So yeah, I'm so happy, and I hope that we do it well, so yeah.
Q. I imagine it's a bit different from being on tour, playing as a solo player. Can you give a bit of a flavor as to what it's been like with the team? I know it's only been a few days, but what's it been like being a part of this team?
JESSICA BOUZAS MANEIRO: I mean, I think all of the girls are so good. There's amazing players here.
I followed them years ago, and of course now, yeah, I'm so happy to be with them. I think we're a good team, and we all are trying to do it well, so yeah.
Q. Anabel, could I ask, what would this week mean to you? You're stepping down at the end of it. What's it meant to you to captain Spain, and what will this week mean to you personally?
CAPTAIN ANABEL MEDINA GARRIGUES: Well, it means a lot. I'm a captain for more than seven years. Every tie that we play, it's a new experience. Of course these Finals are very special. We are playing at home. That is not very often that we can have that opportunity.
So playing here in Malaga, we know the crowd from Andalucia. It's a very, very good crowd. Play home and playing with this team is a privilege. I think we are doing a good job. We arrive here on Friday, and we are preparing the tie very conscious.
I think we are ready to start on Wednesday.
