NASCAR XFINITY SERIES: CHAMPIONSHIP

November 9, 2024

AJ Allmendinger

Avondale, Arizona

Pit Lane Interview

Q. AJ, what kept you from being able to claim the championship today?

AJ ALLMENDINGER: We struggled all night. But first off, congrats to Justin and Dale Jr. and that 7 crew. Justin has been working at it for a long time, so really cool that he got it.

Wish we could have been at least in the fight for it. But can't thank Alex Yontz and my whole 16 group just fighting. We just were off from the start, loose the whole time. I didn't know what else to do to try to make it faster.

Just disappointing that we never really were in the fight. We thought maybe strategy-wise we could kind of steal it maybe or at least the team championship, but just can't thank Matt and Chris and all the men and women at Kaulig Racing for giving me these chances, Celsius, all of our partners.

Pretty disappointing. It was definitely not lack of effort. I honestly don't know what else we can do to be more prepared. Just wasn't good enough for them.

Disappointing, but proud to be here at least.
