Quick Quotes
Q. All right, Auston, nice little day to wrap up day two. Overall how you feeling after your second day in Hawai'i?
AUSTON KIM: Feeling pretty good. I had a lot of fun out there today. Hit some really good shots. Got over the bad ones really quick. Played some good golf, so very proud of myself.
Q. What were some of the most memorable shots out there for you?
AUSTON KIM: I made a lot of good putts today. Hit a lot of good drives. Put myself in good position I feel like the entire round.
I made two big saves my first two holes. Managed to start out okay. I hit a lot of good chips out there on the front nine. Managed to keep myself in it.
It was a bit frustrating not being able to make a lot of things happen in the front, but I kept myself in it and stayed patient and kept hitting great shots and it paid off in the end.
Q. How do you approach a round like that knowing the winds would be a little bit different than yesterday?
AUSTON KIM: I'm pretty glad I played in Scotland earlier this year. It's weird playing in 25 mile an hour winds when it's this warm. Yeah, I'm glad I had that experience earlier this year.
I know how it -- at least I have more experience playing in high winds, and I just kept reminding myself to stay confident and stay patient; that eventually the chances would come.
If I kept hitting good shots, then I can make it happen.
Q. When did you feel maybe the momentum turn in your favor on the back nine?
AUSTON KIM: I think after I made a long putt on 9 I started feeling really good. I mean, I wanted to feel good regardless of what was happening. I felt good this morning just kept reminding myself that I have the skills. If I believe in myself, then it'll happen.
After I made that putt, I just tried to light it up the best that I could.
Q. First time at the LOTTE Championship. What's it been like for you this week in Hawai'i?
AUSTON KIM: Oh, it's cool. It's my first time in Hawai'i. I'm having a lot of acai. Trying new foods, branching out a little bit. But it's been a long year. It's been a long season.
I'm really grateful that I could come to a place like this to finish out of the year and play some good golf. Hopefully finish out well this weekend.
Q. 36 holes together; 18 tomorrow. What are you focused on being in contention going into round three?
AUSTON KIM: I know I have the skills. I know I'm capable. I just kept reminding myself of that, that I'm capable. I want to feel confident over my shots and focus on what I can do.
So just being really kind to myself knowing I can do it, and I feel like that's been the biggest difference this week. It's, again, been a long year, a lot of learning. If I just believe in myself, I know that I can do anything.
