TOTO JAPAN CLASSIC

October 31, 2024

Jenny Shin

Omitama, Ibaraki, Japan

Taihelyo Club Minori Course

Quick Quotes RD 1

Q. Here with Jenny Shin after the first round; 6-under. Just talk about how you feel like you played out today. Great round.

JENNY SHIN: Thank you. Well, after coming back from a withdrawal last week, been working on a lot of different things with my body. I was quite satisfied that I played relatively pain-free today.

Thankfully the golf course doesn't have too much trouble so I was able to get around with some dodgy shots I hit today.

Putting definitely worked. Except for the three putt on the last, on No. 8. But, yeah, besides that, I think I had a pretty solid round put together.

Q. I was going to ask about the last four holes. You had three birdies despite the bogey you mentioned. What is about that stretch of holes? We've seen a couple other players dot he same today.

JENNY SHIN: Yeah, I don't know. They're not the easiest. Definitely the last two holes I thought it was pretty tough to read. But, yeah, actually if I were to tell that there were a lot of birdies on No. 7 I would've been very shocked. I thought that was a really good birdie. I came off the hole and my caddie and I were like, wow, that was a really great birdie.

So, yeah, I think I just hit really good tee shot and really good second shot and both putts for birdie were inside 15 feet. That was a huge plus.

Q. Have you played at this course before?

JENNY SHIN: Many times.

Q. Many times. What do you remember since we weren't here last year?

JENNY SHIN: Okay, I don't know. If you ask a golfer what you remember from past experiences it's just scar tissue; rarely good memories.

Yeah, a few tee shots because I haven't played the practice round this week because of my injury. There are some holes where I was like, where do I hit? I forgot. I'll stand over the ball and I'm like oh, God I remember this one. It's a constant repeat of that.

I managed to get out of those troubles and hit some decent shots onto the fairway.
