MLB WORLD SERIES: YANKEES VS DODGERS

October 26, 2024

Yoshinobu Yamamoto

Los Angeles, California, USA

Dodger Stadium

Los Angeles Dodgers

Postgame 2 Press Conference

Dodgers - 4, Yankees - 2

Q. Congratulations on your first World Series win. Your slider, curve, and splitter were all dancing around the strike zone all game leaving the Yankees batters confused. What do you attribute for only allowing one hit against arguably the best hitting lineup in the league?

YOSHINOBU YAMAMOTO: Everything is good, and I think the location and the height in the zone, everything was working well today.

Q. It seemed like after you got a lot of run support from the Dodger players, you really went on the attack on the mound. At what point did you really find your rhythm to be able to really get through the innings and really showcase some of your best stuff?

YOSHINOBU YAMAMOTO: Because I gave up a home run and then tied the game -- I allowed them to tie the game. Then after that, I got run support, just like you said, and then I was able to keep them zero after that inning.

Q. Yoshinobu, the last time you pitched this deep into a game was at Yankee Stadium on June 7th. What was the difference for you today to get you to get that length today?

YOSHINOBU YAMAMOTO: I was focusing on -- trying to focus on facing one hitter at a time. So I was able to throw the strike when I wanted, and I was being able to face the hitters one at a time.

Q. You've been working your way back since coming off the IL in September. Physically is this as strong as you've felt since going on the IL in June?

YOSHINOBU YAMAMOTO: By the time I came off the IL, I was already as good as -- pretty much close to where I was before. Then after that, as I started pitching in a game, then I think I got better.

Q. Everybody talks about playing in the World Series. This is your first World Series. How did it feel when you walked out on the mound today?

YOSHINOBU YAMAMOTO: It was kind of a mixed feeling because I was very looking forward to it and happy, but then after I felt that I started trying to focus on going into the game.
