Quick Quotes
Q. Rico, nice playing. Just let's start with last night. I think you got in 7 holes maybe.
RICO HOEY: Uh-huh.
Q. Double bogey early and finished that evening with an eagle. That must have been a nice to finish on.
RICO HOEY: Yeah.
Q. Talk about that and then knowing that you had to come back this morning.
RICO HOEY: Yeah, I mean, it was kind of a rollercoaster round. My wave was pretty fortunate with the wind and whatnot.
It was still pretty strong but not as strong as the other guys or other waves. Yeah, started off with a double and it was kind of just a mix of emotions.
I knew it was going to be tough and the next few holes I could kind of get hot, and luckily I did. That was nice.
Coming back this morning, the wind is still up there but it seems like it's dying out a little bit. We were fortunate to get hot and keep going.
Q. Talk about the nine, ten, eleven holes you played today. Did it seem like it was not effortless, but more effortless compared yesterday? Did it seem like a little more relaxed?
RICO HOEY: I wouldn't say relaxed the wind is still pretty strong. It's like a two-club difference at least. I think I hit my 3-wood on 9 probably about 220 up in the air.
Yeah, it's still up there. Yeah, out here you just got to keep going. Condition-wise it's soft enough, but at the same time you got to play smart and put yourself in the right positions, and that's what I'm doing.
Q. What do you feel like you really did well this morning?
RICO HOEY: I got up and down when I needed to. I guess my short game really saved me. Yeah, I did that; putted it well. I was just hitting the right shots. I'm going to try and keep doing that.
Q. Your season kind of started slow. You kind of obviously had a runner-up at ISCO; good finish at Rocket; continued the good play in the Barracuda. Did you get some momentum in the middle part of the year?
RICO HOEY: Yeah, I was fortunate to start working with my caddie, Brian Martin, and he's been a huge positive guy and so he's been helping me along the way. I would say he's a veteran out here, so helping me along the way of just staying patient and whatnot.
I knew like going into these events it was like whether I got to play good or not, and I needed to play well. I felt like I just been kind of rolling with it, too.
Q. Do you feel like the season has lived up to your expectation or do you feel like you exceeded a little maybe?
RICO HOEY: You know, it's a mix of both. I would love to say I would like to play better; at the same time, I'm pretty fortunate how I'm playing right now. I feel like I'm playing well. I think I am just putting the pieces together.
Being out here first year I'm still learning the ropes. It's kind of hard to learn all the new tracks; at the same time, I'm playing well enough and hopefully I keep putting myself in those positions and, yeah.
Q. Not a super quick turnaround, but still a quick turnaround. What did you do between now and finding out what time you'll play this afternoon?
RICO HOEY: Yeah, probably just go eat, relax, and yeah, just chill with the family.
Q. Will you stay on site? Do you go off site and do something else?
RICO HOEY: I don't know. I haven't checked the time yet. Maybe go out and grab lunch or something, yeah.
