TPC Summerlin

Quick Quotes

Q. Greyson, first group out. Just curious about how the golf course played this morning. Heck of a round: 2-under in the conditions you faced.

GREYSON SIGG: Yeah, I felt like I shot 62 today to be honest, and I only shot 2-under. It was so cold this morning. I think we were fortunate they delayed it a little bit, I think four hours.

Man, it was blowing from the first shot of the day and all the way to the end. It was a mental test out there today and I did a pretty good job of that.

Q. How satisfied are you to be in with a 2-under round?

GREYSON SIGG: Yeah, for sure. I'm happy to be in the clubhouse right now. Some guys were giving me grief walking through the putting green. Why didn't ya'll play this morning? I said, you guys will have a good afternoon out there. Ya'll enjoy.

I'm super excited to go home and get some rest.

Q. Describe the conditions and the challenges, major challenges. Obviously the wind, but cold...

GREYSON SIGG: Yeah, we're at bit of elevation up here so ball has been going a little bit further than your stock yardages. It was a challenge this morning to figure out how far the balls were going in the cold weather.

This golf course is gettable when there is not much wind and it's hot outside. When it's cold and windy, there is a lot of the really hard tee shots and a lot of really hard -- par-3s are tough.

It'll sneak up on you out here. It was just a grind all day.

Q. What do you feel is the most challenging hole today in those conditions?

GREYSON SIGG: 7 was the hardest hole for me today. I think that was the only bogey I made. (Smiling.)

Q. If you wouldn't mind, just describe what the conditions were like when you stepped up to your first tee shot on 10 today.

GREYSON SIGG: I think Vince and I were kind of laughing at each other. Yesterday I hit a 3-wood in the bunker probably 315 yards and it was pretty cold and blowing pretty good in this morning and I think I hit a drive probably 260 yards. There is 50 yards of difference right there with a driver between the 3-wood and just 24 hours there.

Yeah, it was tough day.

Q. With all the talk about the wind and obviously play getting pushed back this morning, was it nerve-wracking to be first group off? Were you thinking about that at all last night?

GREYSON SIGG: Not really. I got out here pretty early this morning. I took a nap on one of the couches in the locker room just waiting it out. It's one of those days where you got to kind of expect for it to be extremely hard. I think I did a good job of that.

I was expecting to have some stress out there and I did. I handled it very well. Very proud of myself.

Q. What's the mental balance like out there when obviously a good shot can become a bad shot at any moment where you're trying to focus on winning the golf tournament but also allowing for the fact that things can turn on you.

GREYSON SIGG: 100%. You can hit a lot of good shots today that get kind of eaten up by the wind. I think I hit a 7-iron on 18 when the wind directly off the right, my 9th hole.

I started it probably 40 yards right of the hole and ended up 15 feet left of the hole. I just started laughing when the ball got going and started riding it. I couldn't believe what it was doing. It was pretty wild out there.

Q. What's the mental balance like trying to make sure you are still focused on winning but also not taking into consideration just -- without like losing sight of what you're trying to do when you know things can turn so quick?

GREYSON SIGG: You just got to take it one shot at a time. I know that sounds pretty cliche, but there is really nothing you can do. I think the lead 10-under and we were dealt a pretty tough hand in this wave.

I mean, you just hit the best shot you can and hit the best putt you can and just add them up at the end of the day.

Q. Can you recall anywhere recently that's been as difficult as this?

GREYSON SIGG: Pinehurst. I would compare this a little bit to Pinehurst but the conditions here were a little bit worse.
