Quick Quotes
Q. Zac, should we go straight to the summary of the whole week, the experience of Utah?
ZAC BLAIR: Yeah, it was awesome. I think it was cool being down here. Hopefully they keep coming back. It was a fun week with all the fans.
Q. I went to St. George News. I was talking to your uncle and he said you got family ties down here. Is it that much more special, and what was it like playing out here on this course?
ZAC BLAIR: Yeah, my dad has lived down here for a long time, maybe since I was a freshman in college. Spent a lot time down here in the winters and a lot of golf tournaments down here.
Yeah, it was great.
Q. There's a lot of the talk about the golf courses here in St. George. How would you rate them in comparison to the courses up north?
ZAC BLAIR: I mean, they're just so different down here. The scenery is definitely a lot more dramatic when you got the red rocks and everything like that. So there is a handful of them down here that are pretty cool, this one included.
Q. To win the State Am, Utah Open, and play four rounds in a PGA TOUR event in Utah as a Utahan, will that mean something at some point?
ZAC BLAIR: Yeah, it's always good to make the cut. Wish I would've had a little better week. You know, it was kind of just one of those weeks where nothing really went my way unfortunately.
But it was a lot of fun.
Q. Tell us about the next few weeks and the courses you're playing and how they fit your game.
ZAC BLAIR: Yeah, so Summerlin next week. You know, I feel like I should play well there. I played okay there last year. It's a good one. A lot of wedges. Got to keep it in play. A little less penal than out here, but kind of the same sort of stuff. You got to keep it in the fairway.
So that's kind of next week. Then don't really know after that.
Q. You're playing through the end of the schedule I assume?
ZAC BLAIR: Yeah, I'm a few out for Japan so I don't think I'll get in there unfortunately.
Couple weeks off and then Mexico I think after that.
Q. What positives are you taking out of this week's rounds?
ZAC BLAIR: I played really good. You know, it was just kind of like the stuff on 9, hit no bad shots and make an 8 and kind of ruins the week.
Kind of a tough tee shot. I can't really carry the trouble on the right, and just thought I hit a pretty good one and lands a foot in the rocks and bounces 70 yards right. Same thing on the -- I took an unplayable and chipped it out and same thing.
Hit what I thought was a safe shot. Thought it was going to be right in front of the green and hits the rocks again and goes 80 yards right. Kind of summed up basically how the entire week went.
Q. T.R. said your ball striking is on.
ZAC BLAIR: Yeah, yeah. No, I played good. I didn't putt very well honestly. Missed a lot of short ones. I found the greens really, really hard. They were kind of doing a lot of -- s lot of little teeny breaks, so if you get on the wrong side, these putts, if you hit it a little too soft it breaks a ton.
If you hit it too hard to doesn't break. I found those pretty challenging.
Q. You think that's a matter of the course being new?
ZAC BLAIR: No. It's just kind of how -- just out way the greens are.
Q. Talk just a little bit more about this Tom Weiskopf designed course. I talked to him and he said it's a shot-makers course and can be real complicated when the wind comes up. I guess the wind wasn't really a factor this week, was it?
ZAC BLAIR: Yeah, never really blew. I think Thursday we played in the afternoon and it picked up pretty good for four holes maybe.
But didn't really blow the next day, didn't really blow yesterday, and was perfect today. So it was kind of as easy as it could get.
