Sei Young Kim

Shanghai, China

Qizhong Garden Golf Club

Quick Quotes

Q. All right, joined with Sei Young Kim after her fantastic round. What was working so well for you out there?

SEI YOUNG KIM: It was really fun to play the front nine. After couple holes I make the birdie I was like, oh, wow, it's good vibe.

And then hole 17, which is front nine for me, I had a good chance for the eagle. After I made it, oh, it could be like another course record.

So last, No. 9 -- no, hole 18 I made a birdie, so, yeah, I played quite solid round. And then back nine I played a little bit -- lost my momentum, but after bogey I found how to play better, like front nine, and I keep playing.

I was able to three in a row another birdie, and it's a strong finish.

Q. Five birdies in a row.

SEI YOUNG KIM: Yeah.

Q. (Indiscernible.)

SEI YOUNG KIM: Hole 10 I had 147 to the pin, but behind the pin I can use the backstop. And then I made like a three, five feet, and then I made it. Every hole like I made three, five feet and then I was able to keep birdie.

Especially hole 17. When I practice with my caddie I decided I go left, use the left fairway, but I change my mind; I went the right side and I hit the hybrid from the second shot and I made it like this much. (Indicating approximately 2.3 to 3 feet.) So I made it eagle.

Hole 18, like 15 to the pin, but kind of I want to avoid the pin because left side water. My body reaction keep going to the pin and then it's make another one. I was able to make the birdie.

After that, kind of a little bit nervous because I shoot 8-under, so my body reaction is like, oh, little tight, so I made a couple par.

Some hole I mistake like tee shot, and then I realize from there and I was able to play three hole making birdies like that.

Q. Seems every time you play in China you play very good.

SEI YOUNG KIM: Yeah.

Q. So what's the reason?

SEI YOUNG KIM: I like China. Yeah, I like the Asian culture because I'm from Korea. I feel like my country. Yeah, so even I play with the pro-am people are so nice and it's fun. It's comfortable, yeah.

I think that's why I play more relaxed and good results come to me. Yeah, I think so.

Q. (Regarding emotions.)

SEI YOUNG KIM: What's the emotion changing?

Q. Yeah.

SEI YOUNG KIM: I try to keep the focus on it, yeah. Sometimes I -- it's kind of challenge myself. Sometimes I lose my focus, can be mistake easily. Even the easy hole if I lose focus can be mistake.

Yeah, the big thing is keep what I have to do, yeah. Whatever is the result, keep doing it. That's the biggest thing.

Q. You're now at very good spot. Will there be any plan or strategy for tomorrow's game?

SEI YOUNG KIM: I think the same because the course is not going to be changing I think. Then I feel like even first round the pin position is feel like final round.

So I don't know what's going to be pin position, but it's not going to change. Same course, yeah, same condition. Weather is nice though.
