OPEN DE FRANCE

October 8, 2024

Victor Perez

Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, France

Le Golf National

Quick Quotes

Q. Obviously this is a massive week for you in your schedule. How do you feel coming into the week last year at Le Golf National?

VICTOR PEREZ: Very happy to be back. Obviously different than it was a couple months ago, and definitely weird to kind of come back to a place because usually you only go to the location once a year. A place I'm obviously very familiar with, different setup, but should be a fun week.

Q. Good emotions, I would imagine, because it wasn't just a massive week but a massive finishing round with a 63.

VICTOR PEREZ: Yeah, my best score on this course in basically the biggest time. Maybe I'll say different on Sunday. But yeah, it was a great week. I would say the best worst place of my career and something I'll never forget, having 30,000 people cheer me on with a few holes to go with a chance to get a medal is something I'll never for never for get for sure.

Q. Massive week for French golfer fans, and when you couple the Ryder Cup in 2018 and the Olympics, what's that done for French golf?

VICTOR PEREZ: Yeah, I think we have seen it this year with a lot of great results, a lot of French guy knocking on the door right now, seven players qualifying for DP World finals and hopefully more to come with good results. It shows with Matt winning on the PGA TOUR earlier in the year. I think everybody is just kind of like climbing step after step and hope for more, and I think it's great to see more and more French players competing and winning which is obviously the point of this whole thing.

Q. Not as cold as it was last week at Alfred Dunhill Links but how do you see the course playing this week?

VICTOR PEREZ: I think it's going to be very wet. It's already wet. Tomorrow is supposed to be absolute carnage with the rain and the wind. It will play definitely different which is not my favourite. I don't particularly like when the course plays really soft and long.

But it is what it is. It will be the same for the 126 players that are teeing up on Thursday morning. So try to find the best strategy to go about it and hit some good shots.
