OPEN DE FRANCE

October 10, 2024

Joe Dean

Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, France

Le Golf National

Quick Quotes

Q. 65 to start your week at Le Golf National. Give us an assessment.

JOE DEAN: Good, stress-free golf. Tried keeping it in the fairways. The rough is quite juicy out there. So fairway golf is pretty key.

Just hit it in the fairway to be able to control the ball. It's been great. Hopefully another three days of that and we'll see what happens.

Q. Describe the condition of the course. Yesterday I want to say the rain was biblical. How was it out there today?

JOE DEAN: Seeing how much rain it's had over the last 24 hours, to be playing is an astonishment in itself. The greens are really good. Arguably I'd say some of the best we've played this year, and after all the rain, as well, it's fantastic.

Q. Your first time at the course, and you haven't seen the back nine until today because of the weather. How did you approach that going into today?

JOE DEAN: We played the Pro-Am yesterday morning. Got very wet to say the least. We sort of sat down at dinner and just said to each other, looked through the book and most of the tee shots, sort of straightforward. It wasn't too much to just rock up this morning and sort of go from there. The ball is not really bouncing anywhere.

So yeah, wherever it lands, it's going to stay. Nothing too special. Just another day of golf.
