Quick Quotes
Q. Sei Young, where to start. Congratulations. Course record 10-under par, 62. Also shot a nine-hole tournament scoring record of 28. Did you have the sense in practice coming in that something special was on the horizon?
SEI YOUNG KIM: Not really because I played the pro-am yesterday and I just enjoyed with the pro-am guest. And then I can see the greens are a little softer than last couple years, so, yeah, I need more like aggressive play be better than like avoid the pin.
Yeah, it worked. It was fun, to play like 8-under the front nine, yeah.
Q. You also own the LPGA scoring record of 31-under par. You are known as a player who is not afraid to go low. Describe the mentality of being in that zone.
SEI YOUNG KIM: After turn the nine hole I'm kind of, oh, I shoot 8-under. I never play like that, so I was a little bit of nervous.
I don't know. Then I try to calm down but after that my body reaction a little bit like tight, and then after couple holes I keep par and after bogey one hole, and I realize, okay, I just keep going what I did is front nine, and I able to knock three birdies and strong finish.
Q. You started the year with six consecutive top 20 finishes, third in Arkansas. How would you compare yourself as a player to the player who won a major and was player of the year four years ago?
SEI YOUNG KIM: It's a long time ago I won the tournament, so, yeah, I'm waiting for another win. I keep challenging and I keep pushing.
Yeah, whatever. I just keep doing what I do my best in the future, so I'm looking forward next couple days. And then, yeah, I feel like getting better. Middle of the year a little struggle with my back pain injury, but I feel like getting better physically then mentally.
Yeah, I keep it going.
