Postgame 2 Quick Quotes
Padres - 10, Dodgers - 2
Q. At one point, Profar and the umpire down the line headed over to the stands area. Was he pointing out someone in the crowd? What were the two of them doing at that point? Was someone threatening him that he identified?
DAN BELLINO: Obviously we take the players' safety very seriously. We would never put the player in an unsafe position.
We were looking for a higher security presence out in the left-field corner to ensure that that behavior didn't continue and to make sure that if anybody did throw anything out on the field they would be identified immediately and removed from the stadium.
Q. When fans started throwing things in the right-field corner, how did the conversations change then? Was there any discussion of pulling the players off the field at that point? Is there any mechanism by which that would trigger a forfeit or postponement?
DAN BELLINO: The only thing that changed was that obviously now we had a second instance that was happening at a different part of the stadium, so we just had to reiterate with security that we needed an enhanced security out in right field as well.
As far as discussion of pulling the players off the field, no, we did not have that discussion. We would do that. We would not hesitate to do that if we thought that their safety was in jeopardy.
And if that was to proceed, then obviously it would be referred to the Commissioner's Office to see if a potential forfeit would be called for.
