Quick Quotes
Q. 3-under par today. How do you assess your day overall?
DAN HILLIER: Yeah, a bit of a grind, obviously, as it can be out here at Carnoustie. Yeah, a bit of wind to contend with. Beginning, midway through the round, died off at the end and managed to make a few birdies coming in which is nice. Still a hiccup on 7, I think it was. But apart from that, pretty solid.
Q. You said the mistake on 7 but managed to bounce back. How happy were you with that?
DAN HILLIER: Yeah, there was a bit of anger on the next hole. Nice to follow up with a little birdie there, and good save on the last to keep me up near the top.
Q. What makes Carnoustie more difficult than the others, do you feel?
DAN HILLIER: I think the pins are a little more tucked out there today, and then yeah, the bunkers, as well. They are just in all the right spots. Yeah, I found a few of them today, and you get in those, and it's basically like a penalty shot. That's a grind. You've got to hit the ball well off the tee but if you do, there's plenty of chances. You've just got to go out and play some good golf.
Q. How much do you enjoy this tournament and getting to play on these three great golf courses?
DAN HILLIER: It's amazing. Yeah, it was unfortunate to miss out last year. I felt ill at the start of the week. But yeah, this time around, the weather has been perfect. Got some great company. Like I say, some world-class golf courses. Yeah, it's an amazing week and hopefully I can cap it off with a good result.
Q. And what would a good result do for you in terms of the rest of the season?
DAN HILLIER: Yeah, obviously plenty to play for, Abu Dhabi and Dubai on the horizon, I'm a little outside the mark for those. But a good week here obviously would help that.
Obviously just got to take it one shot at a time, the old cliché, don't get too far ahead of myself, and yeah, just play as well as I can.
