Quote Quotes

Q. Number one, the silver lining, you know you're going to Monterey Peninsula next year, right?

ALEXANDRA VILATTE FARRET: Yes.

Q. Today was a real ebb and flow with match play. You really made an amazing comeback on the back nine. What can you say about the way the match went in general just for yourself?

ALEXANDRA VILATTE FARRET: Well, she was playing so good at the beginning. I was playing good, but it was -- I don't know how to say in English, but it was not on my side.

Then I was 4-down on the 9th, I had a birdie on the 9th, and I think I played my best golf today, best golf of the week. She's an incredible player. She hit the ball so, so far.

Q. Youth, right?

ALEXANDRA VILATTE FARRET: Yeah. But I had to make some birdies to win holes, and it's not easy here. Then on the 17th she made an amazing putt about five meters to continue.

Q. On the 17th, on the long par-3?

ALEXANDRA VILATTE FARRET: Yeah. She had a five-meter putt to continue the match on the 18th. Then I had a bogey here, but my bad shot is my driving sometimes, so I'm a little bit tired now, I guess. So it was hard at the end.

Q. 18 the first time, you were in the rough, very difficult to try to get up there, right?

ALEXANDRA VILATTE FARRET: Yeah. I had a good chip and then a lip-out on the putt.

Q. What can you say having gotten -- this is your first try, 41 years old, and an amazing debut I would say.

ALEXANDRA VILATTE FARRET: Yeah, it was an amazing tournament. It was my first time. I think maybe I can win next year. Now I know that I'm not so far.

Q. You got a better sense of what the championship is about --

ALEXANDRA VILATTE FARRET: Yes, for sure.

Q. And the caliber of the play, the caliber of the golf course, first time for all that, right?

ALEXANDRA VILATTE FARRET: Yeah.

Q. What can you say about just the ambiance and all the championship --

ALEXANDRA VILATTE FARRET: Well, it's so, so good. People are so nice here. Players are very, very kind. It's very sportsmanship, you say? It's very pleasure to be here, to play here, and I'm looking forward to next year.

Q. You're not playing competitively too much in the last few years, right, since you became an amateur again? Is this your most competitive play --

ALEXANDRA VILATTE FARRET: Well, I play not a lot but with my team, we went to the French championship. I won the European Mid-Am. So I am competitive, but I don't know -- I didn't know what I was able to do on that kind of course. Now I know that I can play well.

Q. Were there any similarities here to some of the courses you play in Europe?

ALEXANDRA VILATTE FARRET: No, never.

Q. Not at all?

ALEXANDRA VILATTE FARRET: No, no. It's very tough here.

Q. You talked about the conservative play needed even in match play where you're not trying to make birdies, you're trying to avoid mistakes in a lot of --

ALEXANDRA VILATTE FARRET: Yeah, but today there was less wind. It was less windy, so it was easier to make some birdies. I made more today, and yeah.
