ASCENSION CHARITY CLASSIC

September 8, 2024

Y.E. Yang

St. Louis, Missouri, USA

Norwood Hills Country Club

Press Conference

Q. What did it mean to you to win in tournament?

Y.E. YANG: This week I think very special, and two years play good and this week two and last, and third year winning very happy.

Q. Was it tense at all, stressful to go to a playoff? Was it hard during the playoff? Was it hard or were you stressed?

Y.E. YANG: Today little stress and fun and mix. Everything very difficult today playing, yeah.

Q. And Bernhard hard is a tough competitor, tough to beat, right?

Y.E. YANG: I think so, yeah. Bernhard is so strong. He play well. Very difficult to play today, yeah.

Q. Do you think you'll always -- St. Louis will have a place for you? You have a connection now to our city?

Y.E. YANG: Not yet, but I like it St. Louis here, and because weather is good and golf course good, everything I think -- I like this city, St. Louis, yeah.

Q. What was the more nerve-wracking putt, the first one to get into the playoff or the playoff putt? How much of an advantage was it to putt second?

Y.E. YANG: First putt is maybe five, six feet short. That time nervous. After playoff and getting better. Just calm just my stroke and made it.

Q. Is was it easier because Bernhard had already missed?

Y.E. YANG: Yeah, a little. Because he missed just have a chances only me, and I putt straight putt. I just think only speed. I hit it. I think made it good, yeah.

Q. How much has your caddie, Chris, helped you out here?

Y.E. YANG: He's always reading the lie and everything calm, and he say to -- we do something and I think we over one year almost one and a half year, I think it's a good match.

Q. You played really well here the last few years. Did you think you would eventually win here?

Y.E. YANG: I don't think, but I happy to play this course because this course I think very hilly and then some feelings I playing to Korea. Because Korea many course is hilly course and here feeling very similar.

Play just only very maybe home course something. Yeah.

Q. Talk about the shot on 17 that got you -- that was critical.

Y.E. YANG: 17 is -- I think hit it right and then after second shot left of green, and then -- but I think before I hitting just only chance and perfect distance because 135 something and I pitching wedge, full shot, and I think very confident shot.

After hitting I don't see the ball, but very big crowd and then I've been feeling it close. Then after Cink missed the green I think that time I think the chance, yeah.

Q. Talk about the greens a little bit coming into today. Did you want to be aggressive? A little bit calmer? What was the plan of attack around the greens?

Y.E. YANG: This week little -- first day little soft but yesterday, today, little firmer. But I try more close to pin. Little attack it. But this one I think this week is play well.
