Quick Quotes
Q. Here with Hannah Darling after a famous victory for Great Britain & Ireland in the Curtis Cup. It must feel pretty cool.
HANNAH DARLING: It feels amazing. I can't quite believe we got over the line. Yeah, third Curtis Cup, first win, it feels amazing, and to have contributed three points yesterday and Friday feels amazing. Yeah, it's such a cool week.
Q. As you mentioned, you've played in three of these now. Did you mention anything to your teammates prior to today?
HANNAH DARLING: Yeah, there's been a few kind of pieces of advice and pieces kind of from experience that I've mentioned to them. It's a great event, but it's one of those that playing in it more times actually gives you that experience and gives you that edge. Certainly when I was playing against some of the younger Americans this week, I definitely felt like I showed that experience just with some decisions that I made.
Yeah, it was definitely a great thing for me to have, and to have me giving those pieces of advice to the GB&I team, I think it definitely helps.
Q. Describe the emotion when you found out you got over the line.
HANNAH DARLING: Yeah, I couldn't believe it. We were all watching Mimi on 17, and she halved 17 to secure the half or the win going up 18, regardless that was enough, and then for Lorna to win on 16, we found that out over the walkie-talkie things, so it was just amazing. Such a cool experience, and an amazing feeling.
Q. The Curtis Cup is very different in the world of amateur golf, isn't it. What are your learnings over the course of the three of these for you now?
HANNAH DARLING: Yeah, just how much pride and passion is in GB&I golf. The seven other girls in the team this week are amazing, and we just had so much fun, and each and every one of them are going to go on and do great things, I have no doubt. Even the American team, as well, they put up a great fight. The trophy, I think, is engraved with to create friendly rivalries between women of many lands or something like that. That's what it's all about. It's just about going out and having fun and showing how amazing women's golf is, and that's what we did this week.
Q. You had plenty of supporters out there; what was it like walking the fairways hearing all the chants?
HANNAH DARLING: It was incredible. It was just amazing. I think my favourite moment was on 18 yesterday when Sara and Lottie were coming down the last, and the Americans tried to start a "USA" chant, and we get the GB&I chant going and kind of drowning out them, which was just amazing. It really just showed how much support we had. Playing at home in a Curtis Cup is so much better than playing away as I experienced a few years ago, and to have the positive support of the fans and everyone here was just incredible.
