BETFRED BRITISH MASTERS HOSTED BY SIR NICK FALDO

August 31, 2024

Niklas Norgaard

Sutton, Coldfield, England

The Belfry Hotel & Resort

Quick Quotes

Q. You finished the way you started pretty much with that birdie. 18 is probably the toughest, if not one of the hardest holes, out there on the golf course. Just how good was that performance? That putter looked pretty hot.

NIKLAS NORGAARD: Yeah, we sat there in recording, we just rewatched the whole round but yeah, I made a lot of putts. That's what I've been struggling a little bit this year, the putting. Driving has been good. Today it just kind of clicked with the putting. It's just funny how the snowball just rolls after one putt, then the other one feels easier and then the next even easier. Just that kind of day.

Q. What is it with your putting that really clicked today?

NIKLAS NORGAARD: I think I just really had the belief after seeing them go in, go in and go in, just on the final one, I had no doubt I was going to make that one. So that was very nice.

Q. Speaking of the putts, the one on 16 was massive. That took you to a six-shot lead. How comfortable were you out there?

NIKLAS NORGAARD: I was not looking at the scores at all, but I knew it was not easy. We had a bit of wind today, and I think it's just I was very, very present as I haven't been before. I was just in every shot.

You know, the bogey on 17 was stupid but that took a little bit of pressure off hole 18. Just calmed me down a little bit because that's a pretty tough tee shot. But I felt pretty calm out there, and we had a good time, my caddie and I.

Q. We talked about it yesterday, you finished solo 7th at this time last year. Last year, you were one of six tied for the lead going into the final round. Going into this year, a slightly different circumstance. What have you learned from the previous experience you'll be looking to apply tomorrow?

NIKLAS NORGAARD: I think last year my best finish of was a seventh place, and now this year I've been knocking a bit more on the door. I have a second and a fourth.

So just having been in the position before, I've obviously never had -- I don't know how many shots lead right now. I think the time between now and tomorrow, just have to go, and then I just want to be on the golf course again.

Q. Tomorrow you have an opportunity to turn a dream into a reality. What would it mean to you if you could get this job done?

NIKLAS NORGAARD: It would mean so much. The thing I just have to do is try to go and do the same as today. Not trying to hold anything or being protective. I'm just going to go at it again tomorrow.
