TOUR CHAMPIONSHIP

August 30, 2024

Collin Morikawa

Atlanta, Georgia, USA

East Lake Golf Club

Quick Quotes

Q. Collin, are you pleased with the day?

COLLIN MORIKAWA: Yeah, stuck to my game plan and what I told you guys yesterday, and honestly just kept hitting my shots and made a bunch of putts today, which was nice.

Q. When Scottie starts with that big of a lead is it nice to be in the final group with him to at least see what he's doing?

COLLIN MORIKAWA: A little bit. He's such a good player that you just know he's going to keep going low and making birdies. I saw that firsthand. I've seen it for years. For me, it's just keep my foot on the gas and keep sticking to my game plan.

Q. As much as you stick to what's in front of you, was today a pretty important day in terms of things getting too out of hand given the start?

COLLIN MORIKAWA: Yeah, I'd say so. Look, like I said, he's going to continue to make birdies. He's driving it really, really well here and you're giving yourself enough wedges to make some scoring opportunities out there.

For me, it's just bringing energy and just kind of staying alive out there. Like I said, I've got a game plan that I've set out, and I'm really going to stick to that, just knowing that we've got two more rounds left of the season.

Q. There's going to be a lot of highlights in a 63, but was there one moment that stood out, maybe the chip-in?

COLLIN MORIKAWA: Yeah, I bogeyed 11, just not a great bogey, especially after feeling pretty good just kind of through the round. The chip-in was nice, especially having a little two-shot swing there with Scottie.

Honestly, even the last three holes coming out, sometimes after a break like that you just lose -- you don't lose rhythm but you just lose kind of that energy. It was nice to finish off with two birdies.

Q. You looked kind of anxious on the tee on 17 as the ball was coming down.

COLLIN MORIKAWA: It was a little on our left line, and we got a little lucky. It was our max left. You just never know.
