Quick Quotes
Q. What are your thoughts after scraping through with a half?
BETH COULTER: It was really tough out there. It was one of those ones, it was a big battle and we were doing well to get the half, and it was a really good putt at the end. Pars are good out there, and it's a tough golf course. It's really tough out there.
Q. There was obviously a little bit of drama on the 10th hole. Can you explain what happened there?
AINE DONEGAN: Yeah, so Zoe chipped up and Jasmine putted -- she had about a 15-foot birdie putt, and we had taken our birdie putt and we were in for par, and Jasmine putted to like two feet. Me and Beth were walking up to see if it was good because we were kind of behind, and then she just picked it up.
So then we were like, wait, what? Because we hadn't given it or anything. The referee kind of came over, we kind of made it to his attention, and then he asked Jasmine, and she said that we didn't say anything, that that was her bad. I apologised to her about that on the 18th, as well, and there was no bad blood. It's one of those unfortunate things. Yeah, we all kind of learn from these mistakes.
Q. It was obviously a very topsy-turvy match with not many halved holes. That must have kept you guys on your toes out there?
BETH COULTER: Yeah, definitely, and it can swing so fast. We were 2-down and then we won 8 and 9 to get back to all square, and we had the momentum then, and then we actually won 10 to go back 1-up. It was kind of that kind of thing, that golf course where that can happen, which that's match play, and it's really fun out there, but it was exhausting but a battle out there because it wasn't our best golf.
AINE DONEGAN: Yeah, it was stressful. No, definitely not.
BETH COULTER: Probably our worst golf. But it was really good to get a half, and hopefully we can carry that momentum into the afternoon.
Q. There's obviously a bit of confidence from scrapping through a half that you can take into this afternoon. How are your games feeling?
AINE DONEGAN: Yeah, mine is feeling okay. I think my driver wasn't great today. I was pretty pleased with my short game out there. Hit a good drive on 18, just need to feel the club a little bit more in front. But I think I'm definitely going to take confidence from that half. We really weren't looking like a half after my second shot on 17. To come out with a half -- I just thought after Beth's chip on 17, let's try and make it down 18 and then see where it takes us.
We're very pleased with a half. It wasn't our best golf, and I'm sure it wasn't their best golf, but pleased we got a half point and same with Lottie and Sara, so we're not out of it.
Q. How special was it to pair with a fellow Irish player?
BETH COULTER: It's really, really cool. Γine is probably like a sister to me. We've grown up for the 10 years together, and to be on that first tee with her this morning was really special. I'm getting emotional. It was really, really cool and definitely something I'll remember for a very long time. Even Sara, we've grown up all of us together, and to experience something like this with all the Irish supporters and GB&I supporters, it's really, really cool.
