FM CHAMPIONSHIP

August 29, 2024

Haeran Ryu

Boston, Massachusetts, USA

TPC Boston

Quick Quotes

Q. All right, here with Haeran after her first round to the FM Championship. Talk about your opening round 69, how you felt like you played out there.

HAERAN RYU: I think really good day because afternoon tee time is so tough for the firm green, and little jet lag right now, so it's a little tired after the nine holes. I think it's pretty good today. I hopefully more better tomorrow.

Q. We were just talking about how there are so many people tied at the top of the leaderboard. Is that the number you expected after seeing the course?

HAERAN RYU: No. I think more under par makes easy for this course, because I felt last week at the St Andrews that is so windy and it was so tough for me because my ball flies so high.

It's so hard week at the St Andrews, so this week is a little more calm and I like that course, so I think I'll make some more birdies, more higher points. Today is just for the 4-under now, right?

So I think firm -- is a little small green and is firm. I think that is more harder to make some birdie I think, yeah.

Q. What stands out about this course to you?

HAERAN RYU: Small green I think. But that is so good for me. (Laughter.)

Q. Talk about tomorrow, what you're looking forward to the most, especially being in a morning group.

HAERAN RYU: Today is little windy at this course, but tomorrow I play in the morning so I'm more calm and I think more -- I can stop on the green more than today, so straight to the pin and make some more birdies. I want to.

Q. You mentioned a little jet lag. Anything you've done in the past few days to rest and reset? Anything fun?

HAERAN RYU: Yeah, because I like baseball these days, so this week from party at the Red Sox stadium, so I'm so exciting there. I want to go back to there this week.

Yeah, amazing I think, yeah.

Q. What's your favorite baseball team? I forgot.

HAERAN RYU: My favorite team is not a professional team. They make some retired players and there is a documentary at the Korea, so versus amateur players or kind of second place on the professional baseball team.

That is amazing team. First time I saw that and I love baseball right now.
