Quick Quotes
Q. Were you a little surprised by the scoring today?
ADAM SCOTT: Yeah, absolutely. Yeah, really surprised. I thought it was definitely playing tougher. I don't know if they were the easy pins they just warmed us up with today or what.
I didn't think there would be so many mid-60s scores.
Q. What was working so well for you today personally?
ADAM SCOTT: It was all good. I putted very nicely and felt like my swing was under control really. It was fairly stress-free. I didn't get in the rough too much or into a spot where I couldn't get out of. That's helpful.
Q. Were the interior out of bounds at all on your mind or a factor?
ADAM SCOTT: Only on 18 a little bit because I hit a hook off the 17th tee and then didn't really want to do that and get a bad kick off a tree and be out of bounds on 18.
Shane said the same thing; he would have hit a big cut if they wouldn't have made it out of bounds down the left, but he instead tried to play it more straight down the hole. He did hit the fairway, but it wasn't his best strike.
Q. I didn't take you as a Greenday guy.
ADAM SCOTT: Me? Well, I actually went for the Smashing Pumpkins more, but I do like Greenday, as well. Smashing Pumpkins were my favorite band for a long time.
Q. What's your favorite song?
ADAM SCOTT: Probably Disarm from one of their earlier albums.
Q. Is there a grunge side to you that we don't know about?
ADAM SCOTT: That's what Australia was in the '90s when I was growing up. Nirvana was huge and everything in that genre was kind of what I listened to.
Q. Do you not feel the heat or the effects of a long season quite so much when you play like you did today?
ADAM SCOTT: It's helpful for sure, but it's pretty hot out there. On a couple of the greens it was quite still with no air moving around. You really feel it. It feels like the sun has got a bit of bite here more so than the humidity. It's skin-burning sun.
Q. The collar up maybe helped?
ADAM SCOTT: Maybe. I've just burned that neck too many times.
