Quick Quotes
Q. Carlota, just what are your first reactions to the picks and how the American team is coming?
CARLOTA CIGANDA: I think we have a great team coming into the Solheim in two weeks. I'm very happy with the team. I love Suzann Pettersen, the captain. I think she knows what we are going to face in the U.S., and when you play in the U.S. I think it's different than when you play in Europe.
I think she's thought about that. I mean, Georgia, Anna and Albane are pretty -- it was obviously they were going to be picks.
And then Emily I think just the experience. She's played Solheim Cup. She is great for the team. Yeah, very happy. I can't wait to be there.
Q. Talk about the main strength of the European Team.
CARLOTA CIGANDA: I think the main strength we are a team. We don't really care if we play, don't play, we are all one, a team always together.
And I think that's been always one of the strength that we have. I think it still is. We have to stay together as a team, and I think everything will be good.
Q. The American team, what are your thoughts?
CARLOTA CIGANDA: I mean the American team, it's unbelievable. Starting with Nelly Korda, the year she's had. Lilia Vu finishing second as well. I think all of them. They are going to be so excited to be there, playing in Washington D.C., Playing at home with their fans.
Yeah, not winning the last three Solheims they're going to be very motivated, so I think it's going to be tough to beat them. But I think we will be ready to compete.
Q. Were you surprised with the picks?
CARLOTA CIGANDA: I don't think so. I think Lexi is for me an obvious pick. We've played the same Solheim Cup and I know how good she is in match play and how much she loves to represent her country. I think that's very obvious.
Jennifer Kupcho, I think she's a great pick as well, great match play player. And Schmelzel, she's had an amazing year. So yeah, very good picks and I think they have an amazing team.
Q. Where is the main advantage and what's the main strategy?
CARLOTA CIGANDA: I think playing at home and I think all of them, they are just very solid. I think they have a very young team and they're fearless. So yeah, they don't really -- I think they're a lot of them playing their second Solheim Cup, but I think they don't have any fear. They just go out and play. I think they are very strong this year.
