Q. First round done here at the AIG Women's Open. It was a tough day, but can you summarise it in your words for us, please?
PATTY TAVATANAKIT: Yeah, overall today was really, really solid. I feel like I hit a lot of good shots. Didn't chase perfection. I was just trying to hit it and take it one shot at a time, which I did, and I actually enjoyed it, although it was quite a long day.
Q. Can you talk to us about the weather and how tough it was out there?
PATTY TAVATANAKIT: It was. It was a lot of mental strength. But I feel like you can't really -- when something happens, something bad happens, you've just got to laugh at it just because there's a lot of uncontrollable things.
Q. What was the standout moment of the day for you?
PATTY TAVATANAKIT: A couple of par putts that I saved was really, really good. Some drives out there, I put myself in really good position. Probably the birdie on 17 was -- that's a really tough hole. I just want to make par every day, and I got a bonus making a birdie today, so I was really happy about it.
Q. Tee to green, can you talk us through that 17th hole, what you did and your yardages, clubs?
PATTY TAVATANAKIT: Yeah. I mean, practice round we played it such a long hole just because we had more wind, but towards the end it died down a bit and I got lucky. Just had an 8-iron into that green, was very beneficial.
Q. Despite the weather, are you loving your time here at the Home of Golf in St Andrews?
PATTY TAVATANAKIT: Yeah, for sure. I just had a lot of fun today, regardless of how I played. Hit good shots, hit bad shots, I'm here, and I want to enjoy every bit of it.
